@aglipa sent: “I’m not going to disagree with you, but that’s not the point.”
“Then what is the point? Of any of this?”
Ethan paced back and forth. Energy swelled in his limbs but had nowhere to go. A swell of frustration threatened to explode outward onto anyone who just so happened to be in the room. Today that was the Judge, as she was called.
A hand slid through his hair, the other placed on his hip as he stood with his back to Destiny. He stared at the portrait of the Father that hung on the wall. Even though he was gone, probably dead, his presence was inescapable. His ghost would never stop haunting New Eden, but it seemed everyone except him welcome the specter of Joseph Seed.
“Are we supposed to live hanging on the hope that the old man is suddenly going to descend from the heavens? It’s been years, and they still won’t move on!”
Ethan’s voice stayed just below the threshold for yelling. He didn’t want the villagers to hear him again. They already gossiped about him enough. They didn’t need more fuel for their verbal fires.
He turned to face Destiny. He stepped closer. The gap between them closed and Ethan loomed over the Judge. He had grown since he was young, and now towered over her by a full foot. Without Joseph there he wasn’t afraid to use it to his advantage.
“I need you to help me convince them. They might listen to you. New Eden will never grow if it doesn’t move on.”
