Jennifer Nettles' Commencement Speech To Graduates Is Something We All Need to Hear

Sugarland's Jennifer Nettles has been on stage performing in front of thousands and thousands of fans and has even tackled Broadway as Roxy Hart in "Chicago," but it was a commencement speech at her alma mater, Agnes Scott College, that had the country singer a tad nervous. "I tell you what, I do this for a living," she began her speech. "I stand in front of people and behind a microphone for a living and I am nervous this morning to do this. This is a big big day and such an honor for me." Jennifer, who studied sociology and anthropology at the women's college in Decatur, Georgia, and graduated in 1997, was asked to speak to the class of 2018 graduates. Jennifer began talking to the class about being one of them. Because she was a graduate of Agnes Scott, she knew exactly what these students had gone through. In her 18 minute speech, Jennifer motivated the youth of today, sharing inspiring words about what kind of woman she wants the ladies to be. "I want you to be fearless dream warriors," she said. "I want you to be the boss ladies of your own lives. I want you to live authentically in your truth." Read the full article
