Ive burned 4 candles, wrote 2 poems, recorded half a song and began a new sketch in the 96 hours since I’ve claimed my independence from one sided love. I’ve waved incense in every corner that nostalgia lurked and avoided the eye contact of stronger , wiser black women. Still it was not until I caught the disappointing gaze of my own reflection that I realized the act of healing has never been gentle nor delicate And I have never been gentle, but remain fragile like the jagged edges of shattered glass.. and for that I will no longer apologize. I only hope that when I set these bridges ablaze It makes my worth easier to see
