“You know,” Lann starts, scarcely acknowledging her, “I think I could tell you were high-born this whole time!” He sing-songs the descriptor. “By my inherent charm and grace?” He pauses his thought to wretch theatrically. Continuing, he explains, “Sometimes, you can tell no one has ever told you ‘no’ before.”

The elders of the Stareye Clan had been so excited to share what they could still remember of their small gods. Agria had described each one they’d mentioned, but Elotha Lightbringer, the fiery eagle, had been their favorite. For that, Agria reckoned he deserved a drawing all to his own. Even the Stareyes had no one left to summon him--the Mendevian inquisition had more than seen to that--but that didn’t mean he’d been forgotten. (x)
