Oh my gosh can you do something between reader and Trevor Collins and maybe them getting tattooed together or something? I just adore your writing! Thanks!! 💕💕
I’m so sorry this took so long!! Last semester was kind of a mess for me and I had little no time to write. Also, sorry for how sucky this is.
“I can’t believe we’re doing this.” You spoke, (eye color) eyes peering up at the neon sign that read ‘Empire Tattoos’.
“There’s no backing out of is now, y/n.” Your best friend, Trevor, smiled as he stepped next to you.
“Back out? No way, I’m fucking esatic! I just meant that we’ve been talking about getting tattoos together for years now, Trev.” It was true, the two of you first jokingly proposed the concept of tattoos when you lived back in your hometown of Indianapolis. You only actually began to consider it when you had followed Trevor out to Austin after he sealed the deal with RoosterTeeth and met Achievement Hunter’s local tattoo junkie, Geoff. Seeing all of the awesome designs that were etched into his skin made you crave your own artwork, so you became dedicated to the idea and gained Trevor’s interest as well. Roughly after a year of planning and researching your ideas, there the two of you stood in front of the tattoo parlor Geoff had recommended.
“Yeah, I guess it’s kind of surreal when you put it that way.” Trevor laughed as he approached the front door of the shop. “After you.” He gestured towards the now open door for you to enter. Once inside, you were immediately greeted by a heavily tattooed man behind the front desk.
“Welcome to Empire tattoos.” He flashed a welcoming smile as you and Trevor approached. “You guys must be y/n and Trevor. I’m Dave.” You gladly accepted his outstretched hand and gave it a light shake, Trevor following in suit.
“What can I do for you?” Trevor placed down the beige folder that he had in his hands and opened it to reveal two pieces of paper that were covered in reference photos. At first, Trevor suggested matching tattoos but you actually were revolted by the thought of it. Growing up, you promised yourself that you would never get a matching tattoo with someone due to their premance. So, in the end, you both decided to get different tattoos that held their own special meanings. He took out the paper on the right and gently slid it to Dave.
“I was thinking about getting a few music notes on my arm. Something simple but still not like overwhelming boring.” Dave nodded along as Trevor described his ideal concept. “Probably like this one?” He leaned over and tapped the corner right image, which showed a musical tattoo consisting of a bass clef note followed by a few others on a staff.
“Alright, yeah. That’s totally doable.” His eyes then shifted to you, which prompted you to remove the piece of paper in the left sleeve. Various sketches were strewn about the page, all portraying a tree next to a mountain with a geometric shape surrounding it. Growing up, your grandparents had a house near Hoosier Mountain, which was famously known to be the highest point of Indiana. You couldn’t count the number of times you had spent walking around the different trails with your family, and later on, you had spent a few summers with Trevor there as well. You wanted to engrave that scene onto your forearm to symbolize your love for nature and your childhood getaway.
You explained the various things you liked about each sketch and Dave talked you through what would probably be the best combination of ideas. The three of you spoke about ideal locations and sizes before Dave tapped his fingers on top the black granite tabletop.
“Okay, I’m going to go draw both of these up. Be back in a few minutes.” As he disappeared into the back of the shop, your body turned to Trevor.
“How many light bulbs do you think Gavin has broken since we left?” Trevor and you had taken the afternoon portion of the day off for your appointment. You had spent the last four months serving as Achievement Hunter’s personal assistant, or “babysitter” as Burnie often called it. Knowing that office, chaos erupted the moment you stepped out of the door. At first, you had found the idea of working along your best friend distasteful and you felt as if you were piggybacking off of his success. But, eventually, you had come to love your job and realized that you had gotten hired because of your skill and not your connection to Trevor.
“Are we talking about just Gavin or assists as well?”
“I was really hoping you would say zero to ease my worries.”
“I would have, but that’d be extremely unrealistic.” By this time, Dave had returned with the sketches. As he showed yours to you, you felt excitement ignite in your chest.
“Perfect!” You gushed. Trevor nodded in approval of his.
From there, the two of you looked over the contract and signed it. After paying, Dave guided you into the tattooing room. Trevor offered to go first since his tattoo wouldn’t take much time to complete and you complied. As Dave set up and prepared to tattoo Trevor, you positioned yourself in one of the guest chairs pushed up on the wall. Trevor sat down at in the tattooing chair, mentally preparing himself.
Surprisingly, he took it better than you had thought he would once Dave had started tattooing his forearm. Sure, his face had hardened quite a bit and you could see the discomfort in his features when Dave began to pound in the hard black of the notes, but he took it well. The tattoo didn’t take long at all and after a twenty minutes later, Dave was finished and cleaned it. Trevor looked at the new ink with a giant smile on his face and called you over to see. Dave allowed him to get up from his seat and look at the full length mirror on the wall. Trevor examined the tattoo happily and called you over to see it closer up. You complied and got up from your seat to travel to where he stood.
The tattoo was simple, but still very well done. You looked at it in awe for a few seconds before Dave called Trevor back over and resumed his work by wrapping the tattoo. He then prepared to tattoo you.
“Alright, y/n, are you ready?” Dave asked as Trevor got up from the tattooing seat to switch places with you. An excited smile slipped onto your face, along with a determined nod. Of course, you were nervous, it was your first tattoo. But, you trusted Dave and the excitement seemed to outweigh the fear.
You took off Achievement Hunter varsity jacket you were wearing to reveal your black tank top underneath. You did this to grant easy access to your upper shoulder. Dave laid the template onto you and allowed you to walk over to the mirror to confirm the placement.
“Yeah, that’s perfect.” You smiled.
“Alright, let’s get started.” Dave begun setting up and getting ready to start. Meanwhile, you laid down onto the tattooing seat face down, with your head to the side. After three more minutes and one warning from Dave that he was starting, the hum of the machine filled the room. It wasn’t painful, per say. More like annoying, if anything. It felt somewhat hot, like a cat was scratching you over and over again.
Well, until Dave began to add the heavy black between the lines that made the geometric shape surrounding the mountain. That’s when the annoyingness turned into slight pain. Dave had already told you that if you ever needed a break, you could say so and he would understand. You were going to try to power through it, but the pain was inching towards unbearable.
“C-can we take a break?” Dave immediately nodded and took the gun away from your skin. You steady your breathing and mentally prepared yourself before giving him the okay to start again. Yet, you couldn’t go more than a few minutes before asking him to stop again. This started a cycle of Dave doing short bursts of work between breaks. “I’m so sorry.” You apologized, feeling bad for the situation.
“It’s perfectly okay.” Dave smiled before looking over at Trevor, then back to you. “But, I think I have an idea. Do you think it would help you if Trevor held your opposite hand? That way you could squeeze it to help with the pain. I mean, if he doesn’t mind, of course.” Trevor looked towards you.
“I’m fine with it if you are.” He gave you a reassuring smile.
“Couldn’t hurt to try.” You answered. Trevor came to your side and took hold of you hand. You gave Dave the okay to start and he complied. The plan actually worked better than you thought it would. Whenever you felt some sort of discomfort, you would squeeze Trevor’s hand. He actually ended up squeezing back most of the time, and even sparked a conversation about what you guys were going to have for dinner tonight. The conversation wasn’t much, but it did help you focus on talking to him rather than the pain.
Dave wiped down your tattoo roughly fifteen minutes later and suggested you go to look at it. You happily agreed and jumped up from your seat. You went over to the standing mirror and used the hand mirror Dave had gave you to see the tattoo. A large smile came onto your face.
“This looks amazing! Thank you so much!” You beamed. Dave smiled as well, and then wrapped up the tattoo for you. Once the three of you were back into the lobby, he gave you clear instructions on how to clean and care for your healing tattoo. Of course, if you had further questions, you could have just talked to Geoff for advice.
When you and Trevor entered the car, you had the feeling of pure happiness settling in your stomach. In all honesty, you wouldn’t have wanted to have this experience with anyone else.
