Oona Adaar took up whittling to pass the time on long journeys, or sometimes just to help her think or calm her. The party's progress/route can usually be marked/followed by a path of dropped wooden horses, soldiers, dogs, and tiny boats, as Malike is constantly dropping these toys and needing to have them re-made and replaced. Oona doesn't mind, though, as it gives her an excuse to keep doing it. Plus, he seems to like playing with them more than any "traditional" toys, which saves her money!
when aurelia hawke was younger, she was usually found having to entertain her younger siblings. because it was often her job to do so, she became great at balancing the activities that carver liked and activities that bethany liked. when she became older, she became fond of many of the lowdown children and, because she was great at handling them, often watched them while their parents worked (when she could of course).
