The third edition of Afro-Heritage Broadcasting and Entertainment Award (AHBEA), is set to hold this year, on a yet to be announced date.

According to the President of the awards planning committee, Mr. Sola Olaniyan, the 7th of April, has been slated for the 2017 Pre-AHBEA award press conference, to hold in Lagos, Nigeria.

Speaking with NaijaOnlineTV, the Africa coordinator of the award event, veteran film actor and director, Mr. Yomi Fashlanso said this year promises to be spectacular, as there would be awardees from more and other African countries.

Past awardees at the event are, Bolaji Amusan(Mr. Latin), Yinka Quadri, Dele Odule, Sunday Omobolanle(Aluwe), Idowu Phillips(Iya Rainbow), Yomi Fashlanso, Bukky Wright, Lola Alao, Femi Adebayo, Iyabo Ojo, Ini Edo, Taiwo Hassan(Ogogo), Jide Kosoko, Adebayo Salami, Olu Jacobs, Funsho Adeolu, Gbenga Adeyinka d 1st, Dayo Adeneye (D1), Odunlade Adekola, Kunle Afolayan, Bimbo Manuel, Bimbo Oshin, Sadiq Daba, Pete Edochie, Liz Benson Ameye, Ella Mensah (from Ghana), Fabian Lojede (From South Africa), Ayo Adesanya, Desmond Elliot, Saidi Balogun and Seyi Law.

The Afro-Heritage Broadcasting and Entertainment Award is an annual African media and entertainment award event, that rewards excellence among practitioners in the icon and legend categories. The event comes up every year among Africans in the United State of America.

Post humous award in the past, had also been given to the likes of late Ray Eyiwunmi and late Jennifer Ossai.

On 5th September, was the birthday of Chairman and CEO of Afro-Heritage Entertainment Company, Mr. Sola Olaniyan, who is also the Chief organizer of Afro-Heritage Broadcasting and Entertainment Awards (AHBEA), which recently held its second edition in Houston, Texas.

In honour of the versatile multiple award winning entertainment and event promoter, a party was held for him in Houston, among friends and family.

Some of the guests at the event were top Nigerian movie and entertainment celebrities such as, Remmy Shitta Bey, Regina Chukwu, Bukola Fagbuyi, Seyi Edun, Shina Ayo Oyinlola, Doris Simeon, Mc Ajele, Mc Promise, Alex Mouth, Femi Johnson, Oghene Bouqui Ahyoh, Aminu Balqeez Ajibade, DJ Manny, amongst others.

The event which was anchored by Houston, Texas based comedian, Mc Promise had some of Olaniyan’s friends and associates speak about him.

Some of who were, Femi Johnson a US based juju musician, who claimed Sola Olaniyan gave him the fame and popularity, he is enjoying today.

Nollywood creative, versatile and prolific actor, Remmy Shitta-Bey also seized the opportunity to call for sponsorship and support towards making the AHBEA Awards next edition, a success.

It was obviously noted, that Mr. Sola Olaniyan, of Afro-Heritage Entertainment Company is truly a man of focus and integrity, as top Lagos politician, a two term member of the Lagos state house of assembly, Hon. Segun Olulade, Chairman, house committee on health, representing Epe constituency II, was also present at the low key party in Houston, Texas.

The organizers of Afro Heritage Broadcasting and Entertainment Awards (AHBEA), recently held a press conference at Eagles’ park hotel, Ikeja, Lagos, ahead of the 2016 awards ceremony, set to hold in Houston, Texas, USA.

The organizing team present at the conference, was led by US based entertainment and event promoter, Mr. Sola Olaniyan, who is also the chief organizer of the prestigious award event. Others are, the event’s Africa co-ordinator, veteran A list Nollywood film maker and versatile actor, Mr. Yomi Fash Lanso, Mr. Antar Laniyan and actress Bukola Fagbuyi.

The press conference was ably attended by gentlemen of the press from various top media outlets, both local and international ranging from the print media, to television and online media platforms.

In his speech, during the conference, the founder and chief executive officer of the awards event, Mr. Sola Olaniyan revealed that it is known precisely that Africans are everywhere and those in diaspora are more prone to foreign intrusion, which can cause them permanent isolation from their roots and that is the main reason they are taking the African legends and icons to them for celebration and appreciation.

He goes further by saying, the success of the maiden edition, speaks volume for itself and that is why they are taking it further this year with an assurance of a more spectacular event.

He added, that apart from reinforcing the overall objective of the award, they also seek to inspire the coming generation to appreciate and embrace that, which is our own for sustainability of our cultural values and identity.

According to the organizers, the awards event, which will take place on the 20th of August, 2016 in Houston, Texas will have fifteen recipients which includes veteran stars like Sadiq Daba, Liz Benson, Bimbo Manuel to name a few in the legend category while Desmond Elliot, Kunle Afolayan, Ayo Adesanya among others have been penciled to win in the icons category respectively. While late Ray Eyiwunmi of the Eyiwunmi dynasty and Jennifer Emeka-Ossai will also receive post humus award.

In addition, one of the unique features of the awards is unlike others it is determined not by votes or nominations, but the recipients are painstakingly selected by a team of eminent and reputable advisors.

One of the criteria for selection is that every recipient must be of a proven integrity and must have been in the industry for not less than 30 years for legend category and 20 years for icon category respectively.

In conclusion while calling for support, from corporate companies and media organisations as well, the organizers of Afro Heritage Broadcasting and Entertainment Awards ahead of the planning of the events second edition announces their partnership with the Lagos state government, Lagos state ministry for culture and tourism and also the federal ministry of culture and tourism.
