A/N: I combined them together to make a super fic, I hope you like it
Ray was a stupid person.
He was stupid not to run from that fight in fifth grade when the kid was a god damn wolf hybrid; he was stupid not to actually try the whole university thing, he was stupid because he was too scared to ask the head of achievement hunter if he could have a job a year or two earlier. He was stupid not to notice that the people around him had feelings for him, it got to the point where they had to tell it to him word by word. He was stupid to run, why did he run. He sprinted out of there like the fucking rabbit he is and didn’t show up to work the next day sending them all into a panic even though he lived in the same building as some of his fellow works, he was stupid but sometimes they were worse.
Alright so maybe he was worse…
So when he had taken that leap he was hesitant to let his feelings pour out to not one person but five, opening up to five people was hard. Did Ray tell Jack this or Ryan, maybe not anyone. It gets stressful but he worked through it; they had fights, no one was perfect. But eventual they got further and further; until the point when they moved in together. That was chaos, it was twenty years of crap they didn’t need mixed in things they used to survive till then, a particular object they liked or used. Ray did end up giving some his Achievement hunter posters away in a giveaway, everyone did this expect Jack who got his laminated at the start, so they kept those ones. It was a ruling out system that took days to organize but was totally worth it; so this year would be their first winter together at their new house. It was exciting and terrifying at the same time, he was sure Michael knew about how he was in winter time but whether the rage quitter had told the others was unsure.
Maybe Ray had told them, he wouldn’t be going outside on the bad days anyway.
Cold…
That was the first thing Ray felt when he woke up; why was it so cold? The Puerto Rican rubbed his eyes tiredly shivering when he realised someone had taken the blankets off the bed, this was most likely Gavins fault. Clothes lay on the floor from their quick changing; why was it too bright outside? It was the fucking middle of winter, he stood up checking outside the back window to find a mass of feathers sitting their. Oh this was gonna be good; he slowly and quietly unclipped the window sliding it open, if Gavin felt the slightly warm air from inside or heard him he made no movement to stop Ray.
“Why are you recording me you smegpot? You haven’t seen a bird on the roof?” asked Gavin curiously, the Puerto Rican had to bite his hand to keep himself from laughing. He turned away looking around the room; finding an empty pack of chips he let it fill up with air,
“Oh no reason, you just look cute up there” replied Geoff; he knew Ray was there. Ray lifted up the bag and slammed his hand against it making a loud bang, Gavin leapt off the roof in fear his feathers puffing up even more when he was embarrassed. Geoff fell back his phone still pointed at Gavin who was gliding to the ground, Geoff collapsed on the ground in laughter, his boyfriend managed to capture both Gavins sulkiness and Ray gave a giant thumbs up to the camera; by the end of the Brit getting teased by Geoff he didn’t notice that he was shivering bad while watching, oh shit the window!
He closed it and went in search of something warm, grabbing one of Geoff’s hoodies for now he headed down stairs; giggling when he found where the bedsheets went. His two cat boyfriends were covered with only their ears showing, he tried to find a way in but was suddenly picked up very strong arms.
“HEY!” shouted Ray, the arms ignored him dragging him over to the door.
“Hey, no no no no, stop!!” yelled Ray, he struggled in one of his boyfriends arms. It was mostly likely Geoff, the shouting must have woken up Michael and Jack because they came over to where Ray was struggling; he was almost free until his boyfriend re-adjusted the Puerto Rican into a firmer grip.
“Wass going on?” asked a sleepy Michael; Ray pushed against the screen glass using anyway to stay inside,
“This silly little bunny has to say hello to the outside world” replied Geoff with a giggle. Jack chuckled opening the door more for Geoff, one moment he was in his boyfriends arm and the next he was landing in the not so soft and definitely not warm snow. Geoff’s laughter was apparent and soon everyone was laughing except for Ray who seemed to freeze where he landed, snow landing next to him seemed to spook him out of his trance. Making a quick sprint inside he headed immediately to the blankets on the couch; his clothes were wet now. The laughter followed him inside; Jack placed a kiss on Ray’s forehead then disappeared from sight. The tv turned on near him but he was determined not to pass out, he just had to get out of these clothes then he was fine. His shirt was gone, now his pants, he had to keep at least something on…
The front door opened then closed; he wanted to turn to see if that was Ryan who was home but his body seemed to be locked in position, if he was shivering bad before it was nothing like now. His ears were flat against his head; hands brushed against them then disappeared,
“Hey sweetie, hey guys I’m back” said Ryan at the start then shouted his message to the whole house. Ray could hear chatter; nothing too loud but just soft enough that he couldn’t understand what they were saying. A face appeared in front of him, he was still staring forward staring into nothing. Hands were placed on one side of his face making him flinch back from the coldness, the words around him were muffled. Why was everyone talking funny, he just wanted to sleep for a bit. I’m sure they would understand; a hand opened his eyes as he tried to close them. He pushed against whoever was trying to keep him awake,
“Go away” he managed to mumble,
“No honey I need you to stay awake okay? Got to get you to have a bath” replied Ryan voice coming through the void.
“Whats wrong with Ray?” asked a panicked voice, Geoff? Nothing why, I’m just going to go to sleep…
“Ray…?”
I’ll be here when you wake up…
“Ray! No, hey baby don’t fall asleep” said Ryan trying to be as gentle as possible,
“What happened?” asked Gavin nudging his asleep boyfriend,
“Ray is a part rabbit and that means when his body can’t handle something he hibernates, for example if he is fucking freezing” snapped Ryan, Geoff dropped his head slightly.
“Jack call the number listed my doctor on the side of the fridge” said Ryan pulling Ray from the blankets he had tried to cover himself in,
“Can I do anything?” asked Michael;
“Go grab some spare warm clothes, Gav go grab some more blankets and Geoff maybe some hot water bottles” ordered Ryan. Nobody seemed to question him all separating to do what he asked, Jack was beginning to pace in the kitchen frustrated by the doctor. Dr Tarnes was great but he could be very frustrating, at least he was a doctor that could do house calls for hybrids. Not a lot of doctors considered hybrids to be a part of society yet; it was fucking frustrating. Before Ryan had found this doctor when he had to go into the E.R they suggested he go to the vet to get it stitched up,
“He said he would be here in the next hour, keep him warm and comfortable” said Jack coming back into the room sighing. Gavin arrived with the clothes so they changed him; Ryan was the one to carry him up. It felt wrong that the Puerto Rican was so limp in his arms, he’s fine. Its just his body saying that it was too much, hes fine.
“Hey Ray, time to wake up buddy. You’re bodies all warm now I guess, Ryan this is stupid!”
“Talking to your own boyfriend is stupid?”
“No, you know what I mean”
“Just do it Michael!”
“Hi Ray, please wake up soon. Team lads isn't complete without you and Geoff is freaking out a bit, he is blaming himself and Ryan is taking charge about it”
“Michael?”
“What?”
“Can I talk to him for a bit?”
“Sure”
“Hey love, uhmmmm, hi. So Geoff has been a smegpot recently and I’m scared he is going to start drinking again, and I mean like he used to”
“Its scary, everyone is falling apart without you”
“I’m sorry”
“Hey sweetie, I’m just here to check up on you. I’ve got some food ready to cook when you wake up, I bet you’ll be really hungry”
“I hope you wake up soon”
“Ray, I’m sorry I was such a fucking dick and didn’t think about you being a hybrid. I was so worried when Ryan started panicking, he rarely panic bad…”
“Please wake up soon”
“I know you like to keep your secrets, I know its hard for you to open up to us but I really wish you could have told all of us about this. Maybe if I had of been there this wouldn't have happened”
“I’m sorry…”
Warm
Protected
Safe
His mind seemed to go through a mental checklist before deciding to wake up; he was glad he had that nap. Hopefully Geoff and Gavin will have settled down, I wondered what they’ll be having for dinner. Ray leaned over to the bedside table and grabbed his phone; 9 new messages and 17 missed calls, oh fuck what did he do…
Scanning through the messages he clicked over to the calendar on his phone, oh god… He didn’t did he, carefully and slowly the Puerto Rican slipped out of bed in the warmest clothes. The stairs he took nice and slow, remembering last time this happened going down the stairs quickly was not the best thing.
Smiling Ray found Michael once again cuddled into Jack; it was like deja vu except this time he was not going to get pulled away from this, he pushed himself in between the two cat hybrids. They both grumbled at the intrusion;
“Gavin, what do you want” asked Michael,
“Hey” was all Ray said. Both Jack and Michaels eyes shot open, they both stared at the Puerto Rican for a moment or two then enveloping him in a hug.
“Ray, oh my god are you okay?” asked the ginger leaving small kiss trails up and down his cheek,
“Hi, I’m fine, bit hungry I guess but thats normal for being asleep for five days” joked Ray with a half smile. If on cue his stomach rumble;
“We were so worried” said Michael nuzzling into Ray even more,
“Where is everyone else?” asked Ray.
“Work, building something for minecraft and we pushed them out of here for a bit” explained Jack,
“I’m so sorry I didn’t tell you guys, I didn’t think this would happen” apologized Ray.
“Ray its okay we know you didn’t mean it” replied Michael,
“Lets get you something to eat though okay” said Jack heading over to the kitchen.
“I’m going to text Ryan, it’ll be a surprise to Geoff and Gavin” said the rage quitter pressing a quick kiss to Ray’s lips, besides the usual news he would have to catch up on he remembered that he would have to catch up on five days worth of kisses and hugs. I think thats something he could of got excited for.
Fifteen carrots, two pork chops, two servings of vegetable and a bowl of pasta later Ray was full. Maybe having fifteen joyous sticks of orange yummyness was a bad idea, but it was one he was going to regret later not now. For now he was sitting near the front door ready to hide behind it and surprise Geoff along with their British idiot; it was taking so long though. After ten more minutes waiting a car finally pulled up, the door opened and almost got close to hitting his toes. Geoff was the last one in and turned to shut the door behind him only to almost scream,
“Oh come on I’m not that bad looking” joked Ray.
“RAY!” yelled Gavin and Geoff almost at the same time, both leapt forward to hug the Puerto Rican as tight as the could without hurting him.
“I’m so sorry I made that happen, I should have never of thrown you in the snow. I’m sorry” whimpered Geoff into Ray’s neck,
“Don’t you dare blame yourself, I should have told you that could of happened, this is my fault not yours” replied Ray smacking his boyfriend lightly. Ryan was left standing off to the side with a sad smile,
“Don’t you dare blame yourself either” said Ray glaring at Ryan before hugging him tightly.
An hour later it felt like everything was back to normal; even though they did seem to be treating him more like glass. He hoped that would stop soon but he didn’t want to rush things, Ray was a stupid person. He wasn’t great at math but at least he knew Rabbit + Snow = Zzzzzzzz

This Place is Our Place, Is My Place, It Has a Place. Pairing: AHOT6 Summary: Michael has never been happier than now, moving into the house with the rest of his partners; but it’s not easily explained why he needs to take care of his boxes all by himself- or why he watches like a hawk when Ryan and Gavin offer to help. Words: 2106 Warnings: OCD, Panic Attack [AN: I do not have OCD and therefore my portrayal of Michael with OCD is based only on psychological understanding [with some spectacular help from ahbrown-man, go thank cyber!] I have some experience with Anxiety disorders because of my GAD, but that’s certainly not the same thing. If you find this fic is horrible or says something wrong or can hurt you in some way, please tell me and I’ll take care of it/remove it completely. Thank you.

Move in day comes a week late for Michael and Ray.
Michael sets the last of his personal shit down at the bottom of the stairs, looking up toward the bedroom while Jack pulls Ray back toward the front door- One last trip to grab Ray’s things and they’ll have everyone under one roof. That’s a nice feeling.
The idea of trying to find a new place for everything he owns, though- that is succeeding in making Michael a little antsy.
He can hear Geoff in the kitchen, throwing things into place with enthusiasm. That space will always be his, no doubt. Geoff the Chef he is- their eatery will look like the cacophony of Geoff’s tattoos but will meld together just right; leaving them comfortable and full. The Living Room already feels like it has Jack all over it. The throw pillows are perfectly matched to the homey candles sitting unlit in the center of the coffee table; and in true Jack fashion there’s exposed hard wood under a matching rug. It’s calm and warm, just like him.
He wonders how he’ll fit into the house, when everything already seems so compartmentalized, so set in place. He clenches his hands into the cardboard box in his arms, feeling the box shift--
Start small. He reminds himself, years of practice and living life just like this-- He wishes they’d gotten Ray’s things first. Ray had helped him move to Austin- he would understand...
Michael decides that he’ll have to put his clothes away, first- so he carries his less important box of knick-knacks up the stairs and focuses on the room they’ve set to the left of the bedroom. It should have been an office, in a past life, but with six people sharing one bedroom they need a little more than a single walk in closet.
His dresser is old and sturdy, beaten up on one side where he’d fumbled it after putting it together the first time. The long scratch down its face is a reminder of his first weeks in Austin- Laughing with Jack as their drill went flying across the carpet of his new apartment and took a chunk out of the brand new furniture.
He palms it out of habit while he sets his knick-knack box on top of the dresser, and then clicks his tongue against the roof of his mouth. His clothes are downstairs, somewhere.
He hears Ryan shuffle into the doorway behind him, carrying things.
“Thought you could use a hand.” Ryan says, happily, setting down two boxes full of Michael’s clothes on the floor at his feet. Michael can feel his heart beat picking up as Gavin fumbles through the doorway with another of Michael’s boxes.
They’re just helping- They haven’t done anything.
“Thanks.” Michael says, pulling the boxes Ryan had set down toward him. “I’m going to get my own stuff set up. Shouldn’t you be-”
“Already done with mine, and I’m not going near the backyard.” Gavin says, the second sentence obviously meant for Ryan- who looks disappointed. He has his awful, fake ‘you wound me’ face on. “You and Ray can take care of landscaping when he gets back- I’ll help my boi unpack.”
Ryan crosses his arms and nods, ready to leave Gavin and Michael to it, but Michael has gathered the box Gavin brought into his lap and bites his lip- muttering. “No, it’s cool, I’m gonna take care of it.”
Gavin looks confused, but Ryan is perking up.
“Michael-” Gavin starts, nearly begging.
“No no, go help Ryan with the backyard stuff- I’m just putting clothes away.” Michael insists; he’s not lying, he doesn’t know why it always feels like a lie by omission. He just wants to be able to focus on putting his things away so he knows where they are. If he’s not concentrating he might miss something, and he wants to save himself the panic later.
Ryan smiles broadly and grabs Gavin by the arm, pulling him back toward the door. Gavin is whining, but can’t escape his clutches.
“It’s just pulling weeds, Gavin- We need to clear the path otherwise the grill isn’t going to be in by tonight.” Ryan says, voice trailing off as he disappears down the stairs.
Michael can hear Gavin say ‘bollocks’ just before the screen door opens and shuts in the kitchen, and they’re gone.
He breaths, spared an explanation and the tension of his own design. He’ll explain later, tomorrow maybe with Ray’s help. It’s not a big secret- It’s the same as Ryan’s insomnia or Geoff’s very few triggers; they need to know, if they’re going to be living with him. They’ll understand, he knows they will, but he needs to explain himself first.
Michael starts putting away his clothes, throwing them haphazardly into the drawers since they’re already folded in the boxes. It doesn’t have to be perfect and neat like everyone seems to think- Jack is far more organized than he is, any day; but Michael needs to know where things are. His shirts are in the second drawer, socks on the top- except the one pair of dress blacks which stay in the bottom.
Things have their place in his head- that’s all it is.
It’s simple and repetitive, so he’s through the three boxes of clothes that Gavin and Ryan brought him before he knows it- and there’s only one more box of clothes (suit, dress slacks, shoes- he remembers) waiting for him downstairs. He leaves the empty cardboard boxes in the closet room and heads down to get them.
He doesn’t hear Gavin sneaking away from Yard Duty through the kitchen while his back is turned; doesn’t see him tiptoe up the stairs and back into the closet room to rustle through boxes.
Michael picks up his last clothes box, and another box of knick-knacks, and heads back upstairs.
They’ve set aside the third upstairs bedroom as a second game room- something comfortable and less easily ruined than Jack impeccable, guest-entertaining living room. There’s shelves all over the place in there, covered in books and collectibles and a few glass-cased baseballs for whatever reason: The remnants of six lives and their hobbies-- Michael’s knick-knacks will go in there, once he’s done with his clothes.
But when he returns to the closet room his empty boxes are gone, and so is the box he’d left on top of the dresser.
He feels his chest tighten.
His arms tighten too, around the box in his arms, and he walks out of the closet room and down the hall to where he can hear whistling. Their little game room, door wide open- and Gavin, oblivious stupid lovely Gavin.
Michael doesn’t want to look, but he knows he has to.
His fingers curl around the corners of his box as he watches Gavin leaning up the wall to settle something of Michael’s onto a high shelf next to a Creeper. It’s cute, seeing Banjo standing ready at the Creeper’s side; and Michael might have even chosen to put it there himself eventually- but the fact that it’s out already at all is the issue.
He takes in a breath, and Gavin hears- turns and smiles.
“Michael-” He says, too happy to see the color draining from Michael’s face at the sight of his box half-empty. Half of his things gone, spread all over and he has no idea where in the room they are. “Done with your clothes?”
He can’t help the reaction, color returning in time to turn his face pink- then red.
“Put my shit back, Gavin.” He says, the snarl ripping through his chest even as he feels his knees lock into place. “Now.”
Gavin, startled, palms the little figurine in his hands. “Wha- but Michael.”
“Put everything back! I can’t-” Michael says, feeling the flush and knowing he’s beginning to puff his breaths, he hopes and prays they don’t turn to gasps. “Put it back, put it all back.”
He heard the screen door open and shut, and there’s no sound of clanging pots and pans. There are footsteps on the stairs- but they’re not what this is about.
What’s missing from the box, he wonders- What did I put in there?
There’s a hand on his shoulder, pushing down- and then Ryan is next to him.
“Michael, Gavin- what’s with the yelling?” Geoff asks. Michael can’t turn to look at him; his neck is stuck in place tight and heavy. His arms are locked at the elbows, legs at the knees. He can’t move- let alone figure out everything that Gavin has taken out of the box and strewn around the room.
He’s repeating himself, over and over.
“Put it back- Gavin!”
The front doors slams, and he wonders if the open window let his voice out and alerted the neighbors. He doesn’t want to have a domestic called on them already, so soon after moving in- it could ruin everything if he hasn’t already.
But the footsteps on the stairs are light and quick and there’s suddenly even more people in the room and Ray is in his face- blocking his line of sight to Gavin and the box he’s ruined.
“Put it-” He’s about to say again, quiet now- he’s running out of air.
“Michael breath.” Ray says, pushing Ryan’s hand off of Michael’s shoulder and pushing his own fingertips into his shirt. Michael feels a hiss rip through his teeth as he follows the order, breathing in and feeling his lungs stretch in thanks.
Ray isn’t focused on him, now that he’s got oxygen.
“Gavin what did you touch?!” Ray asks, head turned behind him. Michael thinks he’s looking at Gavin, but he can’t see.
“I just started putting things away, now he’s in here yelling-” Gavin stutters.
“Anything you touched, put it back in the box.” Ray insists.
“Ray, please-”
“Gavin put it back in the box, everything. You want this to stop, you fix it.” Ray says, hands tightening on Michael’s shoulders. He feels another breath run through him at the reminder, and he’s thankful- thankful that Ray knows.
“Bloody Hell.” Is the response, but Ray has shifted out of Michael’s line of sight and he can see Gavin grab Banjo and set him back in the box- a Zelda figurine follows, a companion cube, an old story book-
Michael counts the items in his head and feels his knees turn to jelly, just in time for Ryan to help Ray support him on his way to the ground.
“Michael-” Geoff starts.
But Michael is already apologizing, trying to pull the worried hands off of him. “I’m sorry- I’m sorry I didn't mean to, I shouldn't have but I can’t help-”
“Stop-” Ray says, and he’s got that look in his eyes that’s far too reminiscent of Jack. “And explain it to them.”
So Michael takes a deep breath and garbles the words on their way out of his mouth- runs sentences together- but he sees Gavin looking back toward the cardboard box in horror and Geoff nodding along and Jack’s hand is rubbing his back as he finishes.
They understand, but it’s still his fault.
“I’m sorry- I just didn’t know when to say anything and-”
“Sooner the better, that.” Gavin says, kneeling down to palm the top of Michael’s head in worry. He looks chagrined. “I won’t do it again.”
Michael shakes his head and hears Jack sigh, a thankful breath of air. “We’ll watch out- we’ll take care.”
Ray is smiling next to him, because he knows he’s won again. Michael should really start listening to him more often- A few words when they’d first gotten together- even when they’d first started working together; that could have saved a bit of trouble.
But Michael is good now- He’s got this, he’s got them.
He smiles, and looks back at Gavin.
“I liked Banjo next to the Creeper- Let’s put him there.”
Everything has it’s place.
