I’m low key obsessed with Glinda.
This is a woman that truly believes that having popularity means power and she’s right. The Wizard doesn’t have a single ounce of magical power but he is popular so he’s powerful. She’s forced to hide every piece of herself that would make someone dislike her. Lies on top of lies, just to keep appearances.
(Yet what finally gave her the power to change everything? What let her get rid of the Wizard?
The truth.)
Glinda is addicted to popularity yet chained by it. Maybe she thinks that she should have gotten on that broom but there is no way she ever actually would have. She chose wrong and she was always going to choose wrong.
She’s like. The most closeted character to have ever existed. A woman that loved another woman who could never ever hide what she is and the moment Elphaba declares herself free from the lies and the hatred, Glinda decides to hide herself away. Glinda watches as everyone makes Elphaba into a monster and she hates it, but what else can she do? Go with her? Impossible.
And then it’s too late. There’s a mob outside.
