it wasn’t until he came to this town that he ever really played in the dirt. kit grew up in cities, in a world of concrete and steel. there wasn’t much of a place for dirt and grass and green things to grow, but there was opportunity for that everywhere in yangwon. the world here looked to be built for creating life and nurturing the ground into beautiful blooms. this festival was particularly inspiring; now all kit wanted was a little flower box to keep in his window and some easy blooms to watch sprout.
he has no trouble at all striking up a conversation with someone he’s only seen around briefly before. he doesn’t know if the girl will know any better than he does, but it’s still a chance to make a new connection. he doesn’t hesitate.
“what’s a good flower for a beginner gardener?” he gets right to the point, talking to the girl like an old friend. “like, i know some things. i know orchids are hard to keep alive, right? and there’s bulbs and seeds, perennials and annuals. i have no idea which is which, though. do you have any advice?”
