Either nightmares are a thing now, or the “Ahnsael” that I took the name from a while back which stopped the old nightmares when I took on the name is back, but with different storylines.
The past few times I’ve slept have had awful nightmares.
I know, realistically, that my anxiety is giving me anxiety (and this is a new thing for me, so I really don’t know), or the Ahnsael whose name I took on is back.
The difference is that these aren’t Haunted Mansion nightmares like I used to have. Two days ago, I was walking with two friends through my town (in the dream). Then, between buildings, I saw a huge plume of smoke. I said, “Looks like there’s a fire over there,” but when red-hot lava shot into the air, I realized it was a volcano. And on every ejection of lava (which all seemed to come in our direction), we had to decide which way to run to avoid it, or whether to stay where we were and just hope it missed us.
We ended up making it back to one of our homes, and meeting other friends to fill them in on what was going on.
Then yesterday, I dreamt about a large angry bear heading into a mall that I was in at the time. I don’t remember all the details about this one, just that I had two up-close and personal encounters, which I barely (or “bearly,” to throw a random pun into a post about me being at the end of my rope) escaped.
I know this COVID-19 thing has gotten into my head. I mean, the fact that I landed in the hospital at the beginning of this month after an ambulance ride where “panic attack” was the official diagnosis showed me that.
But while I’m not generally superstitious, part of me wonders whether the Ahnsael from my past is taking revenge, even if they only exist in my head.
So I’m going to see how things go when I sleep later today. But if my URL changes soon, this could be why. I may need to give the name back to my subconscious tormentor for the sake of my sanity, even if it’s all in my head.
