Oh no. I'm so sorry.

Yeah... It apparently metastasized from when she had kidney cancer a while back. Right now, she is leaning towards having surgery done, which would give her the longest to live, but surgery is always risky and she could have a year or so or she could only have 6 months. So that’s up in the air. If she doesn’t do anything, she only has a few months. Biopsy/radiation is an option as well, but I don’t think it has a great prognosis either. Right now, she’s still in the hospital. I know she and my mom wanted to talk to the surgeon about risks/recovery/etc before making a decision on what to do.

I wonder what it's like to have the kind of life where one can believe that the universe is perfect and that everything happens for a reason? I can't even imagine having a life where I could believe that things just smooth themselves out somehow.

I have a hard time believe it sometimes, too. But the hope that things will get better is the only thing keeping me going sometimes... A lot of times, I wish I could just -not- hope because it causes a lot of heartache. But I am dumb and can’t stop.
