♒ : enjoying a day at the beach
Kari tugged on Ray, pulling him toward the ocean with promises not to go too far in and that she would keep him safe if anything happened. He might not be able to swim, but she could and she would never let him drown. The salt water brushed against the back of her feet and she let out a small yelp, running forward into Ray’s arms. It might be sunny, but the water was still cool. It took a little to get used to the temperature. Eventually they were both down far enough to where the waves washed over the tops of their feet. Kari was able to get Ray just to his ankles before he picked her up and carried her giggling and struggling back to their beach towels.
Halfway through building the slightly elaborate sand castle, Kari had moved her focus to Ray. Much to her surprise, he had actually taken an interest in building up the sand structure. He just got this look on his face when he was focused that she loved. It also meant he was less likely to take notice if she started doing something else, such as burying his legs in sand. She was up to his knees when he noticed. Backing away, giggling, Kari didn’t even make it to her feet by the time Ray had pulled his legs out from the sand and pulled her back over. She fell right onto the sand castle, causing Ray to start laughing with her. She used the grip he still had on her to bring him down into the ruins of sand with her, leaning over to press a kiss to his lips. “Couldn’t resist,” she said, in reference to not just the kiss, but also trying to cover him in sand.
One tickle fight, a lunch, and an impromptu photo shoot later, Kari was back in the water and Ray had moved to the sand to lay on his stomach and play on the 3DS he had smuggled in his bag. As much as she loved the water, she soon missed Ray’s company and made her way back up the beach to sit next him. Her fingertips traced out abstract patterns on his back and she hummed along to the tune coming from the game.
