AI is not taking over and here’s why.

I know a lot of people in the art community are anxious and scared right now with seeing AI art EVERYWHERE. Even my most recent post was based from AI artwork and the popularity is only going to grow I think. Just to give those in the art community a bit of hope, AI is not going to devalue your art and the work you put into learning all the skills you have. I’m not a fan of how AI learns different styles of taking other people’s artwork and then mushing it all together into an algorithm, but I feel like it’s an opportunity of ethical AI apps to create a demand for Stock art artist to draw in a style to create even more original AI algorithms  I still like using AI, but more for inspirational ideas or I paint over results I get since often things like eyes and fingers are wonky or the pose and angles are boring, so whatever results I get end up looking very different once I add my own touch to it. Plus AI has plenty of cons that just doesn’t compare to artistry. AI has this thing of “illusions of details” but not actual details when you look up close to them. For something free and quick I get it, but for artwork and prints, The details have a purpose to make the image/idea look complete and pleasing. Plus there’s the classic derpy fingies and faces and straight up nightmare fuel it still creates. Getting  solid images that actually look good really takes time to figure out how to make the program you use work. Even then it’s not guaranteed to be exactly what you want. In the end it’s a fast wat to get “that looks cool” as long as you didn’t have anything specific you really wanted. Low expectations is what makes AI popular when the results don’t make you sleep with one eye open at night. Your worries are valid though  “I already have a hard time with customers arguing about my prices and now AI can do it faster” If a customer/client thought they could get what they truly wanted through AI, they wouldn’t be talking to you. AI doesn’t need rent, or food, or transportation, you do and as long as you are putting in the time to create a piece for someone, you deserve the prices you set to make sure you can live. AI doesn’t live. It’s a tool. So don’t let anyone argue your value down by comparing it to something that has no needs It’s a tool. Not an entire replacement of art itself Think of a mass production of toy dolls for kids. That doesn’t take away the value of those custom dolls that people make by hand. Mass production artwork has been a thing for a while, but original artwork remains and will continue to remain even as technology evolves. My opinion may change as AI continues to get more advanced, but that’s how I feel at the moment.
