Hello, welcome.
I made this blog to help people recognize gen ai images to avoid supporting it in any capacity. This blog will also focus on media literacy and using critical thinking skills.
Why?
Generative AI (not the ai that recognizes cancer cells) is a type of ai that steals from artists and takes credit, nearly always without the artist's knowledge or permission. Essentially it is plagiarism wrapped up in a fun, environmentally devistating package.
It is also extremely environmentally taxing, as gallons of fresh water are used to make a single image. I was going to include a source link but just look up "environmental impact of ai"
Which, you should be looking up third party sources if you want to know the truth anyway.
How do I know which source to trust?
Not all large media outlets can be trusted, but if several of the big ones that are considered actual news outlets (Fox News is not a news outlet, it is offically labeled as "entertainment") are saying the exact same thing as statements from universities, its probably true.
Short answer: cross reference
I also found this site if you want to know some statistics quick and easy
I don't care about artists or the environment, why can't I use gen ai?
Oh boy, well first of all change your fucking attitude, the environment made you and artists made the world around you.
Secondly, other than the planet in which we live and your fellow human being workers rights and livleyhoods, it's mediocre. It takes the art away from art and just kinda... scrumbles something together.
Why bother to enjoy something someone couldn't be bothered to create? Why exist in this world if all you do is keep your head down and accept any slop put in front of you? You're a person, I'm gonna need you to act like it.
