took a few screenshots of aida tonight :3
KH Mass Effect Insanity Insanity This Probably Won’t End Well Edition!
From the Dept of KH Gaming Fail: managed to lose Miranda’s loyalty after Jack’s mission. Bah! I’m not sure I can twist myself into the kind of meta-game-y anti-roleplay contortions that will keep Miranda alive this time, and it’s especially galling because I’ve never lost a crew member in the Suicide Mission. Ever. (I did lose Chakwas and What’s-Her-Name, the ‘You’ve Got Mail!’ girl once, though. /disclosure)
I’d planned on giving Thane’s romance the once over, mostly to muddy the waters for the Kaidan romance carryover from ME1, but I’m not sure I’m in the right place, mentally and emotionally, to go through a fatal illness + tragic death scenario, even with a pixel person. Sorry, gravel-voiced Fish-Frog-Iguana Man. Maybe in some other life. *sadface*
So. On to mopping up the last few bits before endgame (the plan: Overlord and LotSB, Reaper IFF, Tali loyalty, Legion loyalty, Omega-4 *fingers crossed I planned that last bit right*).
Tagged by @garrus to do this as well, thank you! Going with Aida this time :3

― your muse’s name: Aida Shepard
― one favorite picture / faceclaim of your muse:
Her face claim is Sarah Gadon and I actually dicked around in ps to make some more scars for her. Still not... necessarily how I imagine them, but closer c:
― two headcanons you have for your muse:
Her right arm, post Cerberus reconstruction, is cybernetic from the elbow down. It’s something that she absolutely hates and has even left her having nightmares. It isn’t that she’s against the cybernetics - she knows there’s more in her body (though none so obvious) - it’s more to go with the erasure of her scars and injuries. For a long time, she still doesn’t use her right hand to the full extent both in and out of combat. A combination of her sister, Garrus, and Chakwas talking to her is what gets through to her. Each of them found their own way to try to help her understand that, yes, what Cerberus did might not have been right, but it’s out of her control. That as long as she carries the memories of her comrades, the “legacy” of Akuze isn’t sullied. That she should use what Cerberus has given her to continue to fight, and to continue to protect the galaxy.
Aida was a bit of an “oops” child. She’s the youngest of four children in the Shepard family. Elara is the middle child and they have two twin siblings older than them - Kayla and Trinity. They’re fraternal twins that also joined the Alliance, but both are in the medical field. While Aida is close with Elara, she was never as close to the twins. With a seven year age gap, Aida could never find anything in common with them.
― three things that your muse likes doing in their free time:
Tinkering with her omni-tool! She had to rebuild it from scratch after Cerberus rebuilt her, but it’s something she takes great pride in with all the alterations and customization she’s put into it. She also likes to tinker with her weapons and, upon request, those of her friends. It’s calming for her to sit down after a mission and tweak her omni-tool or take apart a weapon and work on improving it. Also once she wraps her head around her cybernetic arm, she starts to tinker with that as well to make micro-optimizations to it.
Ship model building/collecting. When she’s not tinkering with her tech, she loves collecting ship models. Aida especially loves when she can find some to build herself. It’s even one of those things that her friends know if they want to get her a gift, find her a ship model kit to build and she’ll be over the damn moon about it.
Socializing. Any time she can spend with friends (and family) she is all for it. Aida loves being around people and even if she isn’t always the center of attention, she’s almost happiest having those she cares about around her. Playing games with her crewmates and friends is something she always enjoys, or simply sitting around chatting about anything any everything.
― seven people your muse loves/likes:
Tali, Garrus, Elara, and Wrex are definitely top of the list. Engineer Adams is also up there as a very good friend. Honestly, Aida likes a lot of people. Sometimes it’s more about who feels like family to her and also creeping up that list are Ashley and Liara. Honorable mentions definitely go to Kasumi, Grunt, and Joker.
― a phobia your muse has:
Autophobia. Aida is terrified at the thought of being alone and isolated. It’s something that was always there, deep down, but it didn’t become a big issue until after Akuze. But it is a big reason why she tries to have as many friends as she does, and people that she’s comfortable around close to her. Being alone on the Normandy, however, doesn’t bother her that much. She knows that, just past the door or just down the elevator there are her friends and family. Though on the SR-2 once Elara has joined up to help, they share Aida’s cabin.
geforce comin’ to my rescue on the screenshot front, lol. here’s some official (better) shots of aida!
Random fact: Aida’s vision in her right eye is very poor until Cerberus rebuilds her. She nearly lost the eye at Akuze (and gained all the scars on her face - she’d have way more if the game allowed me lmao) when she was struck by shrapnel when one of her fellow marines - in an utter panic - set off a bomb too early. It also tore up her arm and armor on the right side - in fact, she’s actually missing the tips of her middle and ring fingers as well as half her pinky on that hand. Combat wise (especially with the eye), it took her a long while to readjust. She relies much more heavily on her tech tricks and allies than out and out firepower with guns.
She has a lot of issues with herself after Cerberus rebuilds her. She’d adjusted to her life after Akuze and felt that they tarnished the sacrifice of her fellow soldiers by wiping away her scars and physical flaws. She and Miranda argue a lot about the nature of Cerberus rebuilding her and when she finds out, for certain, that they were the ones behind Akuze to begin with she freaks out even more. That part of it, of course, doesn’t come till much later and honestly the only time she gladly kills someone and gets any satisfaction from it is when she puts a bullet in TIM.
hi I need to know everything about aida
hi I don’t have a lot yet, but here’s what I got:
Aida’s born and raised military. She’s going to have at least one sibling that will be military as well, but I haven’t come up with anything for them yet. Her family pushes her into joining the Alliance as soon as she’s old enough and she takes it as an opportunity to do what she wants - work on ships.
Been tinkering with technology since she could hold the tools to do it. She has a custom built omni-tool that she’s constantly tweaking and upgrading. It’s how she unwinds at the end of a long, stressful day and distracts herself from bullshit that bothers her.
She’s extremely positive and upbeat around people. Doesn’t matter the situation, she’ll always try to find the silver lining and it’s probably one of the only reasons she didn’t completely lose herself after Akuze.
Speaking of Akuze, she nearly lost her right eye (and can barely see out of it) after getting caught too close to a blast. She has numerous scars on her face from the shrapnel that hit her. It also took off the tips of her middle and ring fingers and took half her pinky on the right hand. She has burns and scars up her right arm as well and it’s still a bit weaker compared to her left.
She’s ambidextrous, but after Akuze favors her left hand as dominant.
When Cerberus brought her back, she was rebuilt more “perfectly”. Vision restored in her right eye, scars gone on her face and the fingers on her right hand returned to “normal”. She had a lot of issues with them and herself after this. She felt like it was a slap in the face both to her (”clearly” she wasn’t ”good enough” as she was) and her fallen comrades from Azuke (the memory of them she always carried with her erased).
Because of this, she and Miranda argued a lot about pretty much everything. She also often gave Jacob the cold shoulder. He may not have been on the team that brought her back, but he’s still Cerberus. Annnd she kinda had some fights with Joker for a while after she’s brought back, not believing that he’d join Cerberus. Same with Chakwas.
Eventually she’ll reconcile with Joker and Chakwas, and will tolerate Miranda and Jacob, but never really be close to the latter two.
Aida’s nearly full Paragon. She believes in doing the right thing, the right way. She won’t compromise who she is to take short cuts, or because she’s afraid, or anything like that.
She briefly Tali quickly and eventually considers her like a sister. They spend a lot of time in the engine room together, chatting and tinkering. Aida’s also close with Adams and the three of them during the events of ME1 spend a lot of free time together chatting and just being friends.
Wrex isn’t overly happy with her at first (she lets Fist go), but they eventually get along pretty well. She also becomes good friends with Kaidan and Ashley (I haven’t gotten there yet, but I think Ashley will be the VS).
Still haven’t decided who she’s going to romance yet (but the shortlist is currently Liara, Garrus, and Traynor).
Thanks for asking about her! I don’t have a lot yet, but I’ll try to remember to post up thoughts and ideas I have for her as I play through the games :D
I don’t have any good screenshots at the moment (the xbox/gaming whatever overlay I normally use isn’t playing nice atm with ME1), BUT I can offer this very small tidbit of my new Shep, Aida!
Not 100% positive which romance I’ll roll with for her, but as y’all can see she’s an engineer :3 She’s a spacer with the sole survivor background, prrooobably going to be more Paragon than Renegade. She’s a good gal, strong moral compass and always tries to stay upbeat and positive.
