DRABBLE CHECKLIST.
BOO / a spooky moment.
WHY WAS A CREAKING DOOR TERRIFYING? He was a wolf, for God’s sake, if anything the door should’ve been destroyed into smithereens under his fist but no, this was something else. It wasn’t something he knew or recognized, all that could be felt was an immense amount of isolation far from the reaches of any grapple in composure. Power overwhelmed the air drowning his breaths into a halt, gaze flickering rapidly to the woman at his side as this newfound fear of having no control, no physical embodiment to attack — unable to protect her — it all simply built. Whatever happened in this place must have been beyond any definition of terrible, it lay as paste on these graffitied walls and forgotten medical machines now useless scrap metal. DEAD.
THE IMPACT CAME TO AN END QUICKLY. with enough time to get himself back together and her attention, unsure if the look in her eyes was that of terror or complete and utter denial. Either way, it was empty. Gone. The wolf grasps her shoulders, glancing down each eerie corridor that’d fallen victim to shadows, giving a perfect path for the attack of any unearthly thing. Everything had started as an innocent excursion into an abandoned building, sunlight still shimmering slightly through an early evening yet even so, nothing had ever felt more wrong in his life. Despite the windows having broken glass, nothing could be done to escape from them as each one remained barred. For fifteen years no one had claimed the building to have such things waiting in the corners of every room, but a part of him screamed an unwanted reality. Had it been the beast within which awoke this dormant darkness?
KIT GAVE HER NO TIME TO THINK. He pulls on her arm rather roughly as running from corridor to corridor turned into the only option they had. Once he had the outside door in sight, he got his torso ready for the slam he’d be doing into cherry oak; a battle cry roared from the depths of his own hell with his hand on her tight as possible. Shoulder first, power then came from his legs and through the ajar door they sprinted. Pieces of wood flew about as if an explosion had pierced right behind the pair. Kit could hear BONE-CHILLING screams rampant with terror they’d just barely escaped from, losing its prey to a vital cry of survival. When they’d finally stopped running, the wolf turns to her immediately with both hands cupping rounded cheeks, only barely noticing the sun starting to rise from hills graced in wind, confirming that the whispers of night still had no control over them.

when she thinks of her childhood, there’s sunshine and the ocean - a sparkling mirage of such crystal blue, it hurt her eyes and even when recalling it; she had to squint to properly face the expanding mass of surging water. but her fingertips tremble and a shortness of breath wracks her chest, making her anxious; she can’t swim, and her father knows that. he’s holding her hand tight, telling her it’s alright, they can stay back and safe away from the shore. jessica can see her sister, only three yeas old, bravely tackling the foamy rolls of small waves that wet the white sand with bare feet.
even into her adult life, she’d never learned to swim; but had developed a fascination for aquariums, loving to go and visit them aplenty when she had the chance. her favourite? the jellyfish her dad often compared her too. beautiful, he’d smiled, but deadly to touch! she’d often smiled at that, leaned back in a quiet moment and chuckled at his affectionate words -- the taste of honey on her tongue, warm tea and long summers in San Francisco. beautiful memories, a beautiful home and the warmth of a loving family. her parents dancing to Andrea Bocelli in the kitchen late at night, whispering how much they still loved each other.
the dream shatters when pain suddenly grips every inch of her body, a stabbing breath turning her dreams grey and the scent of copper blood fills her nose. she gasps, and eyes fly open but the scene around her is one of despair but wrong--- the sky is where the ground should be, and smashed glass skews her view. a pressure cuts into her lap and blood rushes to her head; the car is flipped, the dashboard shattered and the airbags had deflated some time ago. she reaches down, a trembling hand reaching for the clasp of her seat-belt, unclipping the piece and in the next moment, she plunges with gravity. hitting the roof of her destroyed vehicle, she grunts in pain when shoulders are crushed into broken glass.
how did it happen, jess?
she can’t remember, blindly knowing she needed to get out of the car - she stretches a leg and kicks at the spider-cracked pattern of ruined glass on the door, trying to either completely ruin the glass or get the door open.
driving.... there was no one else around.... it’s a country road.... her and another car, maybe--- did she hit head first?
her cheek is sticky from congealed blood, she thinks there’s a wound on her temple or somewhere near her hairline; she’s getting panicked, needing to get out -- the car groans around her, the tank of oil makes a sloshing sound and she kicks harder. the glass splits and then erupts into shards, she kicks out the few shards and pushes her body out. her shoulders hurt, her head is dizzy and her chin drips thick red blood.
what happened here, jessy girl? who did this?
she crawls to the outside, the sky is thick and heavy with rain; and the wind whips hard around her cheeks and she throws her gaze around. no other car--- but hers is totaled. did they drive away? on her knees against the road; she looks around.
“HELLO?!” her voice cracked, who else was here?
a growling suggestion: from here. @aidonaea
It never occurred to him through his recollections of the past, the sorrowing memories of all his misdeeds, that the great trouble he caused was not something he should regret. What for? If it was fated to occur, why he should repent on the hearts he tainted? It was God’s will.
Perhaps what Kuddo mistook for destiny was really just part of the consequences.
“Then why is it that when they hurt,” he started, “I hurt?”
In the dimly lit lounge, there he sat, drowning out his demons. Too many drinks clouded his judgement, rendering him a sad mixture of pain and paranoia. Could this be divine punishment? What did Yue know about that?
Like a forsaken child, the offspring of a terrible god, Kuddo was left alone to his vices. And just like the many fatherless demigods, he was made an outcast, one destined to a miserable life—to hurt and be hurt.
“I never meant for any of this...”
