AIESEC TAIWAN-LC NCKU - DREAM BEYOND LANGUAGE - ANYE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
From the last post, i have talked about my project in Taiwan. i was back to VN a week ago. Sorry for being late because of my laziness hahaha.
At the first weeks, I took a sleep at Kaohsiung Airport because it was late flight. Next morning , I was heading to Tainan City, Taiwan where is an hour and 30 mins away from the airport. I was picked up by Brian Huang, my buddy as you can say so, we talked a lot like we were friends for long long time. After that, i was taken by Frank, a teacher from the school, to bring me to my homestay house. And, i was so suprised when for the first time ever in my life, there is a host with that big Mansion. He gave me the whole 3rd floor to do whatever i want. My bedroom is like triple from my house and i am the only person use the bathroom in the 3rd floor. Next day, I came to school with a very warm welcome from the Principal and all the teachers in here. There are 3 Soldiers ( They’re doing there military service as male citizens) and they are so cute and funny. They helped alot during the school times. They even took me to the night market right on the first day, omg, they are so friendly !!! Then, I met all the teachers and they were so nice to me. Stuart, a very special English teacher, he is from America and he used to be an American soldier during Vietnam War. He talked about how much he love VN before and Thailand as well. At the weekend, as you know from the blog before, i was in Taipei for my birthday Travel :)
At the second weeks, it was quite normal to me: heading to class, Helping Angela during class and study materials and looking after the year 1 kids. The most exorted thing to me during this week was “ Get the Year 1 Vacinnation”. OMG, They yelled and cried like Sky was falling down. All the teachers in the school tried so hard to calm them down. It was so crazy. There was a girl yelled so laugh and keep hugging me, she made me cried lol. I couldn’t believe I cried for that reason. At that time, Chin, one of the soldiers, saw it and I was like “Jesus, Take me away” because it was so embarrassed. I hate when any guy catch me crying. You know, 21st century, Girls are getting Stronger lol. At Thurday and Friday night, I was attended a traditional typical Asian party with the teachers and it was soooooo weird to me because I hate going for a party and bowing to peolple for saying hi without knowing. At the weekend, my host took me around Tainan City for sightseeing and It was so hot but fun as well.
Third week was quite boring and still alright at the weekend. Nothing special happens during 5 days in school. Teaching, Looking after the class, helping school material. The school got visited by Japanese High school Students. They gave us so much impressiveness from their performance. People can recognise their culture, power and spirits during watching them. It was so great. At the weekend, I had a chane to go out for a school Excursion from National Tainan Girls Senior High School. They are so celver and so funny. I forced them to translate their learning day in English which was also helping practice English. There were also 7 other boys for National Tainan Boys Senior High School joined during the day but they were so scared to talk to me. LOL. Funfact : Taiwanese kids need to me More CONFIDENT !!!! hahaha
Last week, which is also Halloween week, therefore i taught all the students, except year 5 and 6, about Halloween. Moreover, I also planned for my Flashmob as a special thing I wanna do for the school before I left. The main reason I wanna do this is, I would like to see the deepest Happiness and their confident. As I said before, Taiwanese are so shy, so I prefer them to be braver by giving my craziness out via dancing without any practising. On the day, it was okay to me, in my experience for doing flashmob, not completely because maybe the kids weren’t used to these kind of activities. They need to get more so their confident will be improved. We had the parade via going around the village for “Trick or treats” custom. I dressed up as Tinker Bell, at first I wanted to be Harley Quinn but it was to difficult to find the costume so yeah, Tinker Bell. All the teachers were so funny with their own custome from Pirate, Pumpkin, No Face, Peter Pan, Doctor, Witches, Tudigong, Vampires and last but not least, the Principal as…. SonGoku. I cant believe he could find that costume lol.
On the last day was so special. They were make a video to me and activities for an Very warm farewell day. I tried my best for not to cry because there were so many teachers and students there. And yes, I didn’t cry !!!! Good Job Binh ( I kept saying that to myself). The principal was giving me so much presents and I love it so much like tea, lucky pencil, school shirt and dried pomelo. The teachers also ordered Pizzas for me and everyone ( even I was so sick of it LOL) at the end of the day. And yes, that’s how I said goodbye to the school by walking backwards, keep waving and saying “ Thank you for everything” till I left the gate. For dinner, my host and me got invited from the Principal at the famous restaurant. It was nice and good dinner to me and I was so appreciated.
At weekend, I was going back to Kaohsiung for one-day sightseeing and again had a night at Kaohsiung airport for early flight getting back to VN. It was great trip. I went to lotus pond, fine art museum, 85 tower, Dream Mall and Night Markets.
Funfact about Taiwan:
Food are super hot hot hot
Soups taste completely LIGHT, feeling like No Salt at all
Students and Teachers have to come to school an hour early to clean up the school
Bring bowl to school for lunch
Main Sightseeing : Night Markets, it’s everywhere
Dinner with Family is always happening everynight no matter what
Comestic in Taiwan , to me only, EXPENSIVE
Taiwanese got influnced by Japanese and Korean culture. ( you can see Song Joong Ki everywhere)
Taiwan is really Rich compare to another countries that I have volunteered ( Sometime I wondered, why do they need me to come here)
Thunderstorms in Taiwan, If you read the news from other countries, you may be scared but in Taiwan, They would prefer having storms than being sweated under the hot weathers, so Storms are normal to them.
That’s all as I remember :)
Thank you My lovely host family, Angela, 3 soldiers, Frank, the Principal and all the teachers for helping me during the projects. It was great 4 weeks to me and it was a pride when I was the first AIESEC EP from LC FTU HCMC coming to Taiwan. Thank you AIESEC TAIWAN, LC NCKU Andrew Lee for interviewing and getting me, Brian Huang for picking me up . I am really apprieciated.
