@aifeilin asked: homicide life on the street + favourite brotp
kay howard & john munch
I can't not care because if I actually do stop caring then I just stop being who I am. No job's worth that.
@aifeilin asked: homicide life on the street + favourite male character
@aifeilin sent Law & Order (all iterations!) for the “Give me a fandom and I”ll tell you...” meme:
Push off a cliff
David Haden.
Frick frack
Olivia Benson. And Rafael Barba. And Alex Cabot. And and and...
Marry
Nobody tbh; they’re all married to their jobs.
Set on fire
Captain Harris. The character was only mildly annoying but ever since I found out that Adam Baldwin is literally Jayne Cobb IRL the sight of his face makes me rage.
Wrap a blanket around
Claire Kincaid. Beautiful cinnamon roll etc.
Be roommates with
Alex Eames. We would snark together at everything and it would be glorious.
For the “send a ship and I’ll tell you…” post, @aifeilin asked for Mike/Liz and Luke/Lorelai.
Luke/Lorelai:
Gives nose/forehead kisses
Luke.
Gets jealous the most
In the beginning both of them do, but over time they each realize that there’s no point in being together if they don’t trust each other and they both make their peace with the fact that Chris and Anna will always be in their lives because of Rory and April.
Picks the other up from the bar when they’re too drunk to drive
Luke picks up Lorelai when she goes out once in a blue moon and has a few too many. He pretends to be annoyed but secretly he thinks she’s adorable.
Takes care of on sick days
Luke takes care of Lorelai, who pretends to hate all the healthy food he makes her eat.
Drags the other person out into the water on beach day
Lorelai drags Luke out, and it’s an uphill battle the whole way.
Gives unprompted massages
Luke does.
Drives/rides shotgun
Luke drives, Lorelai rides shotgun.
Brings the other lunch at work
Neither of them because they both work in places where food is served, but Lorelai goes to the diner to have lunch with Luke almost every day. If she can’t get away then he goes to the inn to have lunch with her; when this happens he’s always tempted to bring her something from the diner but never does because while the wrath of Sookie is funny to think about it’s not something he actually wants to incur.
Has the better parental relationship
Luke did, before his parents passed. Lorelai sometimes gets jealous listening to his stories of how close they were; Luke on the other hand gets jealous of the fact that she still has her parents and reminds her that it’s not to late to try and fix their relationship.
Tries to start role-playing in bed
Lorelai, as a joke.
Embarrassingly drunk dancer
Lorelai, except even drunk she’s better at it than Luke is sober.
Still cries watching Titanic
Lorelai.
Firmly believes in couples costumes
Lorelai. I believe this is canon but I’m not up to that part yet, I’ve just seen a gifset.
Breaks the expensive gift rule during Christmas
They both do, but they still try to set a limit every year.
Makes the other eat breakfast
Luke has been feeding Lorelai breakfast for as long as they’ve known each other.
Remembers anniversaries
Luke is surprisingly the sentimental one in the relationship. Lorelai always forgets.
Brings up having kids
Luke does. It’s no secret that Lorelai always wanted one or two more but she thinks Luke doesn’t like kids, so she gives up on the idea. He’s the one that suggests maybe they should start trying.
For the “send a ship and I’ll tell you...” post, @aifeilin asked for Mike/Liz and Luke/Lorelai.
Mike/Liz:
Gives nose/forehead kisses
Mike!
Gets jealous the most
Definitely Mike, and Liz puts up with exactly none of it.
Picks the other up from the bar when they’re too drunk to drive
Liz picks up Mike. She worries about his drinking but she has to admit he’s adorable gazing at her from the passenger seat with those big puppy eyes and sloppy grin.
Takes care of on sick days
Liz takes care of Mike, who is an absolute baby about the slightest cold.
Drags the other person out into the water on beach day
Liz. Mike pretends to be annoyed but takes every opportunity to dunk her.
Gives unprompted massages
They both do.
Drives/rides shotgun
Mike drives, unless he’s been drinking in which case see above.
Brings the other lunch at work
Usually neither of them have the time, but whenever Mike gets a chance to consult with Liz on something work-related he brings lunch to her office and stays longer than strictly necessary.
Has the better parental relationship
Liz does. She had a perfectly happy childhood and still visits her parents upstate several times a year.
Tries to start role-playing in bed
Liz. Her adventurous side catches Mike off-guard but he likes it.
Embarrassingly drunk dancer
Definitely Mike, even when he’s not drunk.
Still cries watching Titanic
Liz.
Firmly believes in couples costumes
Liz, but that’s the one place where Mike attempts to draw the line. I say “attempts” because come Halloween he winds up putting on whatever she picked out for them and practically daring anyone to laugh.
Breaks the expensive gift rule during Christmas
Liz. She knows that Mike can’t afford to reciprocate but she wants him to have nice things.
Makes the other eat breakfast
Liz. Mike’s idea of breakfast is coffee and a Flintstones vitamin.
Remembers anniversaries
Mike does, to Liz’s surprise.
Brings up having kids
Mike. Liz was afraid to say anything for fear of scaring him off/moving too fast, but she’s pleasantly surprised to hear that he wants to be a dad.
31, 32, 37!
31. Do you take liberties with canon or are you very strict about your fic being canon compliant?
Depends on the fic. A lot of what I like to write is “if X had/hadn’t happened, then what?” so I’ll be canon-compliant up to a certain point. I’m also not above handwaving things that don’t otherwise fit with canon, or ignoring canon entirely when the writers do something I don’t like (Gina Perello is alive and well, I tell you!).
32. How do you feel about smut?
As a reader, I can take it or leave it. Can’t write it myself to save my life, so I have nothing but respect for those who can.
37. Talk about your current wips.
Oh man. How much time do you have? :P Right now I’m working on:
Three one-shots from three different prompts (including yours--I’m sorry, I haven’t forgotten!) in various stages right now; one is Law & Order and the other two are Code Black.
An SVU one-shot that I started in response to some reactions I’d seen to Unholiest Alliance before I actually saw the episode myself; that one is basically about Amanda confronting Olivia over her drinking.
The Code Black fic I’m working on for @wipbigbang, which is about Leanne going back to her hometown to see her in-laws for the first time since the accident and figuring out how to give herself permission to move on with Cole.
A Gilmore Girls fic I just started, which is based on a Lorelai/Christopher fic I started and abandoned back in 8th or 9th grade in which Lorelai and Chris had another oops baby but made different choices this time around and actually became a family. Only as I rewatch it I’m a much bigger Lorelai/Luke shipper than I was when the show first aired, so this time I’m starting from the same point but going for an L/L endgame. This is the most frustrating thing in my repertoire right now because it’s one of those ideas that’s just eating at me when I’m not writing it, but when I am writing it I feel like my writing style hasn’t progressed at all since I wrote the original and in fact may have gone backwards.
Thanks for the ask!
