Hm. Depends on what you see as a weakness. But generally speaking?
Wecthil’s family is usually cited as proof of weak character and that he is a failure as a Jedi(why yes, most times other Jedi seem to point that out). He himself could not differ more, as he sees his family as the greatest reason for him to be still able to feel compassion for people and do what he is supposed to as a Jedi.
Sam thing for Orbay, by the way, though in another way. More like “my weakness obscures my strength”.
Leharra was always told by her brother that she was not cut-throat enough to make it in their line of business. That went up to eleven after she fell in love with Zo-An. But in the end, it was the love for her husband and their kids that prompted her to finally get a hold of herself and sever ties with her brother.
And last but not least, Serron. Although more in the “my wekaness has become my strength”-way, given that he was at first only in for the money and only later grew a pair of ideals.
Do any of your OCs have weapons that are significant or well loved? Tell us about 'em!
Oh boy, here we go.
I think this is going to be long-ish, so I’ll put it under the cut.
To begin at the beginning, no?
Zo-An has exchanged not rings, but weapons with his wife, Leharra(yes, that may sound weird and edgy, but hold on.). This happened in a time were neither of them were sure about how long they would live, as they had had an ugly falling-out with Leharra’s brother Rogan(and his exchange-bros), so they had a bounty on their heads.
I think the best comparison is what happened with Jala and Natu, to put it in perspective. So. Neither of them was sure how long it, they, would last. No support from the Jedi(Zo-An was exiled at the time), no real allies, made for a dangerous situation. They weren’t officially married, but Zo-An put together the best blaster he could for his wife(with a little help, admittedly. It should be a good weapon as well as a good gesture after all) and added his own lightsaber crystal to it. Leharra, in turn bribed her way all through Nar Shaddaa until she found someone who could help her assemble a sword for her beloved. And after that was done, she gave him his signature mintgreen crystal for it.
A weapon that Wec would acquire years later, btw.
Orbay had made a lightsaber for himself while in training on Corsucant, and another one when his Padawan Tarookka was making his. This got destroyed when he lost his arm and lower body though. And while Orbay was in the hospital, sulking and self-depricating, Wec and Tarookka decided that enough was enough and made a new weapon for their sword-fanatic friend.
Wec gave ihim a lecture to get the f*** out of his bed and be a person again, not a casualty. And he gave him the completed saber as well as another yellow-white crystal while daring him to do it himself. Orbay made a second saber in the image of the present himself and never looked back.
Now, on to Wec. His first saber was nothing special, as are most saber from the era of peace before the great galactic war. His love for the double-bladed saber came from his master Sora Tas, and he made it crudely, but well enough. After his fathers death, he decided to use his weapon in remembrance(also his old saber had been cut in half, so there was that). He made a new saber for himself after the Quesh-incident, to mark that he accepted his fathers passing as well as his new stage of life. He used a violet crystal out of a bigger one and kept some more, two of which he later gave his twin daughters Caitisa and Ophina.
His (for now) final saber is the so-called “Mantle’s Approach” He built it after he accepted his first Padawan, Clay Cayden. He built it from the breastplate of a mandalorian warlord(Clay father in fact; He was smarter now, beskar lightsaber can’t be cut so easily) and inserted two cyan-colored crystals. Because these color was rare though, there were people who mistook his crystal for the “Mantle of the Force”, and since being a shadow is as much about psycological as physical combat, he rolled with it. Thus the name “Mantle’s Approach” for his saber(though admittedly, I just wanted to insert another Halo-themed pun and spun the story around that :D)
Like I said before, Caitisa got a violet-colored crystal from her father and inserted it into her cannon which was given her somewhat force-sensitivity at least enough for her to never misplace her weapon. Ophina on the other hand infused her crystal greatly, believing that purging it and loading it with light energy would make it a better wepaon against Sith. Problem was that she didn’t stop after her fall. So over time, the crystal turned into a much darker violet.
Azenee made her weapon together with her father as Padawan as a first point of contact, since they had never spend time together before. It was guality family time for the both of themand forged a strong force-bond. She changed her crystal later though, when a friends of hers was struck with insanity in the dread war and she had to cut him down. She took his crystal and parts of his swrod, thus changing her weapon and making her super pissed about anyone insulting her “pink” lightsaber.
As well-developed my Jedi may be, unfortunately my Sith are… not as much. It ranges from “got hers from Ravage and would kill anyone who touches it”(Mandowe) over “matching sabers with wife”(Eravev& Niar) and “got her saber for Sadow’s tomb and replaced it after Valkorion destroyed it”(Zanya) to “made a volatile overly-strong synthetic crystal and rolled with it”(Kalless) and “took said crystal and a natural lightside one for balance and somehow made it work”(Arynys)

goddamn! Wec gets around!
Yeah, well, that’s a bit complicated. See, the thing is that Wec and Thia(Azenee’s mother) had a thing for each other when they were Padawans. their master caught up tp it, seperated them, and Wec travelled tons and tons of planets before he finally got to Balmorra.
There, he fought for a few years and fell in love with a soldier of the balmorran military, Tara Osan. Then the republic pulled all people out and Wecthil was sent to Quesh.
Tara was, like most of her unit, presumed dead when in reality, she was captured by the empire. Which Wec didn’t know, otherwise he would’ve come for her. Then the whole incident on Quesh took place which forced Wec to relocate yet again, this time to Nevoota(guess which way he crossed there)
Now, the problem with both Thia Kor and Tara Osan was that it were not complete family-kinds of relationships. Thia and Wec were sweethearts as teenagers and she and her found together in a deeply troubling time for both of them(with Thia having lost her master and Wec after Quesh). Tara and Wec, on the other hand, fought at each other sides for years, and over the time the became sort of a battle couple(kinda like Satele and Jace, I have to admit)
Both share two things: he thought he lost them(Tara was presumed dead when in reality, she was enslaved and Thia died in childbirth while Wec spend months in Kolto-tanks and other stuff and none would tell him about her afterwards) and he didn’t know of the children(with Anlyanna being born in slavery and Azenee being born while he spend months in Kolto-tanks).
Now Deera is a whole other story. They came to know each other on nar Shaddaa, when Wec worked for SIS after his recovery. This was again a getting-to-know-each-other-over-years-and-gradually-falling-in-love-story, which ended with them getting married.
It was only after their marriage and, in fact, after the birth of the twins, that Wec learned he all ready had children.
So yeah. Not so much woman-after-woman and more a chain of events that would be too unlikely even for Varric Tethras.
Shoutout to @delstuffs for supplying me with this glorious timeline-masterdocument.
I love it and I hate it but I love it but I hate it.
Love it because HOLY FUCK it makes the whole organisation so much easier and now I can make it coherent and get my whole AU to work out with the loads and loads of characters there and I finally think about stuff I never specified and give it a point in time.
Hate it because HOLY FUCK this is SO FUCKING MUCH and I’m sitting here for hours because I can’t stop.
What if Nymiya hadn’t died on Yavin… well, that’s a good one. Nymiya was, in some aspects, like Ophina: She would have surpassed her father by far. The difference is, that her learning curve wasn’t as broken as Ophina’s was, which means that she could have surpassed him, but couldn’t have done it as fast as her older sister did.
But again, I digress…
If Nymiya hadn’t died on Yavin but Deera still did, that would have thrown her in as deep a hole as it threw her father. Pro: They could have helped each other. Con: It might have opened a crack for the dark to seep in(Which, given the way her older sister ended, was certainly a possibility. Her mother’s death would have shaken her even more than her older sister’s did.
If Nymiya and Deera had survived, she would have continued to serve the(still pretty much defunct) Yavin Enclave and would have fought and/or died in the ensuing scirmishes. If she survived, she would have joined the Alliance just as most of the Enclave’s members did.
What if Master Wecthil didn't (or couldn't) kill his daughter?
Good Question. I believe I’ve never told the circumstances of that, did I? Well in that case, lean back and fasten your seat belts, because there is a whole lot of context incoming.
…
I’m putting this under the cut.
Ophina is the younger one of the twins and certainly the girl that adores their father most of all of them. That and her force-sensitivity set her on a course to follow in her fathers footsteps and become a shadow. She did, and since she was not only gifted in the force, but good at what she did, she became a Judicator. Now what is a Judicator? I’m glad you ask, imaginary other half of this conversation! Judicator are what you could call the shadows of the shadows. They’re their pendant to the internal affair department in our police. So if a high-ranking Jedi like a shadow goes rogue, a Judicator is sent to track him down. Now, Ophina had the problem of Wecthil’s self-righteousnes pushed up to eleven. She began to see traitors at every corner, and slowly descended to the dark side. Horrified by the changes happning to her body as a result, she begn to hide herself behind a mask. After she and her sister were heavily wounded in the assault on Tython(with her face becoming scarred due to her mask exploding of her face), she snapped completely and fled the temple, killing two Jedi on her way out.So, of course they sent a Judicator after her. Three, to be precise. Wecthil asked for permission to track her down and talk some sense into her, but was denied this. In the end, he did it anyways and found his child standing over the corpses of the three knights she cut down. She didn’t really know what happened to her so perhaps she didn’t fight back with full strength(otherwise he couldn’t have beaten her; she was younger, fitter and by far a better duelist than him), but was ultimately only able to slay her and hold her in his arms in her last moments.
So yes, scarring experience.
Now to the matter at hand.
If he did not kill her in that situation, I believe that she would have cut him down in her frenzy a few moments later when she realised what was happening. If he didn’t track her down? Another Jedi would have done so eventually. Or not, if we take her abilities into account. Perhaps they would have sent the Hero of Tython at some point and he/she would have dealt with it.
Wec would not have gone into exile if she weren’t killed. Perhaps he would have dropped out of the High Council becuse of her actions, I dunno. He would not have met Yuën and Merach, and he would have been deployed against Zakuul and either died in battle or started black ops like Havoc did in the end.
