La Fissure d'Ailefroid This was 9 pitches of trad climbing up a chimney! It is an obvious crack that you can see on any look at the crag so we just had to climb it! There were bolted belays but we used trad gear for the climbing. Cams seemed to be pretty useful and we had lots of them. We didn't use as much gear as I suspected mainly because the climbing was pretty easy. There were a couple of thrutchy sections but in all places there were good holds and where it felt a bit tricky there was always a peg, some in situ gear or a bolt to keep you safe. I thought the crux pitch at 5b was absolutely fine and pretty much bolted the entire way. The surprising pitches were a couple of the 4c pitches that were thrutchy up the chimneys or slightly trickier route finding. Both Mic and I thoroughly enjoyed the route and finished it in good time with no fuss finding the walk down at the end.
