Rain
The rain was never... enjoyable for Ailuin. He understood it was a necessity for the world to thrive but that was where his love for it stopped. Rain made his clothes wet, his boots muddy, and the after smell was horrendous.
But, he grew to love the rain. Almost forced into it by an unexpected shove from fate. It pushed him into the rain, expecting him to swim with ease and only to drown pathetically.
And it was all the Princess’ fault.
He never understood her love for rain. The way her eyes would grow wide when the first droplet would hit her window always made his chest hurt. Hurt with jealousy for he didn’t have a love for something so simple like rain.
Her eyes were the same colour as the clouds that brought the very thing she loved. That could have been the many reasons why he too, fell in love with the rain. He saw beauty in her grey eyes just like she saw beauty in the clouds that brought her joy.
He also saw beauty in how she danced in the rain. His scolding would fall on deaf ears and she would dance. She would laugh and sing and laugh some more like there was not a single worry in the world.
His chest would hurt then too. With jealousy because he wanted something as simple as rain to take his mind off of his own thoughts.
But it would not just be jealousy. His chest would hurt with longing.
Longing for the Princess to look at him the same way she watched the rain.
