One Wedding, One Destiny A Kingdom Hearts Themed Wedding July 15, 2017 Part 1: The Couple

First off, thanks to everyone who followed me on this journey for the past two years. You all have been amazing support and made the planning process so much more fun.

Seriously, thank you.

I wish I could start this by saying my husband and I met while grabbing for the same piece of Kingdom Hearts merchandise or our entire relationship was based off the love of the game. But to be perfectly honest, the most we ever did was a puzzle together in Japan.

In actuality, we were just two people who couldn’t decide on colors and I proposed that a theme wedding would be the easiest to coordinate. So I just started listing every little thing we shared a love for and once it came to Kingdom Hearts my husband responded, “I could do a beach wedding.”

But after spending two years planning this wedding I’ve rediscovered the very reason I fell love with this franchise. Despite its plots, it’s a beautiful game with beautiful music and messages of love and friendship. It was the first game I ever fell in love with and it was so fitting to celebrate it with the first man who ever captured my heart.

Of course, we styled ourselves after Sora and Kairi. I wanted to keep it subtle though. My husband was represented by his red tie and keyblade boutonniere while I was represented by my bouquet that I based off Kairi’s keyblade: Destiny’s Embrace. We added the beargrass heart for extra points.

I kind of took the “Hearts” motif a little more literally when it came to my shoes and accessories. My hair was supposed to be a heart shaped bun as well but it didn’t show as well as I hoped. But it turned out beautifully anyways.

The keyblade was made by @aimeewoodworks who’s name you’ll probably see a lot. I want to make sure she’s properly credited for one of the biggest parts of our wedding.

thats so cool and exciting! i'd love to learn how to sew someday, but tragically there are a handful of other higher priorities in life for me

my week has been okay for the most part. It's week 3 of my new job and training/responsibilities are starting to ramp up which is exciting but also exhausting.

I haven't been working on much other than myself and being happy in my gender and figuring out who i want to be. oh and staying alive, which is difficult considering my body is terrible at that 🤷‍♀️ i did draw a bit for the first time in 10+ years the other day, so maybe that'll be something i take up again.

trust me i drink TONS of water lololol. actually my doctor recently suggested i might be drinking toooo much water (old habits from marathoning days) so im learning how to scale back to a healthier amount which is hard cause i love water

The difficult thing about Poldark’s costumes is that there isn’t as large of a market for recreating the costumes of the series. Your best bet would be to contact one of the Etsy sellers linked here that sell Hamilton/general 18th Century designs to negotiate a custom order of a costume according to Ross’ promo pics for S3. Be prepared to spend several hundred bucks on this endeavor, these are specialty items, often custom made:

If you want something already made that’s similar to Ross’ style, I highly suggest trawling eBay using the search terms “18th Century men’s coat/18th Century men’s theatrical costume”/18th Century reenactor mens costume”. (These terms avoid the cheap Halloween listings from popping up.) This is one example of a reenactor letting go of old wares. Make sure you have notes on your husband’s measurements in inches so you can weed out too small/too big items:
