I have finally begun working on the Ainulindale! The first Chapter of the Silmarillion! :D
The translation is not my own, but from @ainulindalenya. I asked them a few months ago if I could use their translation and they said yes! They have their own amazing version of the Ainulindale so go check that out while you’re at it.
I am delighted to show what I’ve gotten done in the last few days (while working/traveling/flying/studying/etc.). I’m really excited to start this and it will be interesting to see how long it will take me and how it will look like in the end. Stay posted. ;)
So I did a thing? ainulindalenya translated the Ainulindalë into Quenya (isn't that awesome?) Go check it out!
And I tried my hand at reading the first paragraph aloud. First attempt, third take!
Some things I noticed:
I am bad at long vowels.
Is that a meter?? *starry eyes, gets out red pen for next time* Ooh, I am going to waste so much time trying to scan this. ainulindalenya did good.
It wanted to elide in places. I was inclined to let it. Elision is fun.
I hope the translator weighs in if he has reading tips and suggestions (Don't do that/what are you doing to my baby? is perfectly acceptable).
Other people are welcome to weigh in too.
=D
