Damian’s soooooo soft~

This was suuuuch a nice little moment because, while we want Aira to speak up, the thing she was about to do here is just what she’s always done - please others. Shift blame away from them to keep the majority happy. “I'm the one at fault!” (no you’re not) “I’m really not the Saint!” (you never claimed to be.)

She was ready to push aside her own happiness to keep anyone else from being punished, while Kyle and the others were performing to do the exact opposite - keep her safe from criticism by putting all the blame exactly where it needed to be without question - and that’s on Kyle, not her.

Damian knew what Aira was thinking and interrupts her with an understanding smile, to let her know it’s okay. That this is what needs to happen especially for her sake, and that they’re all prepared for it.

So yeah I just. I liked that.

I thought the custom of men giving women presents that match the suitor’s eyes was really nice (kind of like saying ‘I only have eyes for you’) - but I couldn’t help thinking that must cause some trouble for guys with plainer eyes as well? Things like jewelry or fine clothing made up of dull colors usually aren’t popular among women's fashion in this kind of setting.

Then comes Damian who I’m shipping with Aira pretty intensely now. Of all the named men we’ve met so far, his eyes are definitely the dullest - a yellowish brown, just a few shades darker than his hair. Not yellow enough for amber or topaz I think, and not brown enough for a smoky quartz - what gemstone would best suit him? When it comes to the types of pretty gems people always talk about, nothing seemed to fit. I think it’d be cute if he even had a little complex about it, fearing a lady wouldn’t be happy to receive tokens from him thanks to his eye color >///<...!

In the end I decided on a Cat’s Eye Opal as his stone of choice if he were to give one as a present. It’s unique streakiness also mimics the odd brown streak in his hair somewhat which I thought was a nice touch.

As far as women’s jewelry goes, this color isn’t very popular in the use of necklaces or hair ornaments - in fact, I know it isn’t because it was terribly hard to find any good reference pictures for them online!! But for the introverted Aira who clearly prefers subdued colors to bright pastels, I think the stone would make her happy~ which is why if you look close, the pendant she’s wearing in my latest fanart piece is one and the same! It was hard to draw the shine effect accurately ^^;;

I don’t really know why I put so much thought into this but it was fun anyways - maybe I’ll pick out gems for the other men as well!!

Ok this is the last post on this for the night I swear, but I can’t get over how Aira’s all sad in the rain and and Damian just runs up to her and plain DROPS his umbrella like. Not very elegant of you Mr. Future Prime Minister. And he just looks so much like a normal student here, like Aira’s equal?

I like how the thing to really make things click for Aira was noticing the sword at Damian’s hip. Like wait, this guy has a weapon.

And now I really wanna see him use his sword at some point, even though I know we probably won’t. It may even be ornamental, but as Prince Kyle’s right hand man you’d think he’d be prepared to fend off an attacker or two if need be.
