★ Are you picking up any new releases this week? Which ones? Happy Book Birthday, @elise.kova! A Hunt of Shadows, the sequel to A Trial of Sorcerers is out today! I finished reading A Hunt of Shadows over the weekend and it’s just continued to solidify how much I adore this story and love the world. And that ending! 😱🙈 Totally wild! This book is more suspenseful than the first, as Eira continues to try and unravel the secrets around her. And sometimes that hunt leads to disastrous consequences. Beyond that you can, of course, expect sweet slow burn romance—I was crazy invested in this ship in the first book, and you can bet the romance was up my alley. And Ducot!?! My new favorite character. Elise truly has a way of creating secondary characters that jump off the page. I loved him! And, I loved seeing Eira and the others again! This series truly has a great friend group and I couldn’t get enough of them. Also—shout out for the ace rep in this! It felt like such a natural and accepted part of the story, and the characters talking about it was really meaningful and heartfelt. This book is full of intense action, great banter, more court intrigue and machinations, and an incredibly developed world and magic system that you feel you can step off the page into. I am starting my relisten of House of Earth and Blood in a bit, reading a few episodes of Lore Olympus before bed every night, and reading the eARC of Wicked Beauty! Once I finish the latter I am diving right into my eARC or @elise.kova’s A Hunt of Shadows, which releases March 1st! I’ve been dying to start it. I absolutely loved this book!! Being back in the Air Awakens world was so wonderful!! But even if you haven’t read Elise’s previous series you can start new with this one. There are some previous characters that make an appearance but the story line is new!! The story starts a bit on the slower side but it picks up fast and then doesn’t stop until the end!! Eira’s journey and growth in this book was one of my favorite parts!! She starts off as this timid young woman always in her brother’s shadow and becomes soooo much more!! I got a huge frozen vibe while reading this book and if you read it for yourself you’ll find out why!! If you’re a fan of elemental magic, fierce competition, and a brilliant cast of characters then this is the book for you!!
