American heavy Bomber, B17, commonly called the "Flying Fortress", used by US & Allied forces during World War 2, its armamnents include 13 .5-inch Browning machine guns(Also called; "Ma-Duece", or "Da Fitty!"). It has 2 bow gunners, a tail gunner, a belly ball turret, a lower nose turret, and a top-side turret.

It had 4 Wright R-1820 radial engines which each produced 1200 Horsepower, and had a speed of 300 miles/hour(or 482.8 kilometers/hour for metric users) at 30K feet, and had a flight ceiling(how high it could fly before air-flow made it not a plane) of 35K feet.

Its range was 1850 miles with a typical bomb load, and had a crew of 10. 2 pilots, 7 gunners, 1 radio operator, 1 bombadier(bomb launcher), and 1 navigator. The standard B17 was 74 feet, 4 inches long, and had a wingspan of 103 feet, 9-1/4th inches, and a hight of 19 feet, 1 inch.

B17 Fun Facts:

● The B17 was one of the most common heavy bombers used by Allied forces, along with the B29 Super Fortress, the B24 Liberator, The Avro Lancaster, Handley Halifax, and Short Sterling. Tho a few of those are super heavy bombers.

● The B17's underbelly ball turret gunner wasnt allowed to be in his turret during take-offs, and landings due to there not being enough clearence. The ball turret gunners also suffered the highest death rate as they were in a glass ball exposed to Anti-Air shrapnel, enemy fighters, and, in most cases, werent able to bail-out when their bomber was to heaviky damaged to make it back to allied lines.

● The B17 was the 2nd most produced American heavy bomber at 12,731, while the B24 had at-most, 19 thousand built.
