Hawaii... Airplane Travel... Bad Dreams
In light of my trip to Hawaii in December, I've decided to make a post about airplane travel. I've never been a bad flyer, and I'm usually the one glued to the window during take off and landing. But, for reasons unknown, anytime I'm about to take a trip involving a flight, I begin to have all kinds of intense airplane-crashing nightmares.
My favorite so far began with me on the flight to hawaii. We had made it to the Oahu, and I could see Honolulu spread out below me. I remember clearly thinking that we had made it, we hadn't crashed, and I was about to touch down on the beautiful tropical island. But, as nightmares usually go, I was horribly wrong. As I squashed my nose up against the window, a bridge below me (don't think there are even bridges in Honolulu) explodes into a ball of fire. Bits and pieces of the bridge shoot out into the air, and one clips the side of the airplane, tearing part of the wing on my side off. We begin to careen around and around, thrown off course by the debris. I knew then that it was over. I accepted it... and down we went.
Luckily I'm not to disturbed by reoccurring travel dreams, otherwise the real flight to Hawaii might freak me out.
To keep it literary today, I found a fun online literary journal through Poets and Writers called "Airplane Reading." Below are some links to my favorite pieces, and maybe they will help me feel a little bit better about my upcoming trip.
