Okay so it’s shangst week and i wanted to write something it
I was thinking about what to write and I thought about @punkflunked‘s Champion Lance AU that I wrote for and I wanted to write Shiro’s reaction to Lance being declared dead so here we go
@shangst-week | Day One: Garrsion/Voltron
(It’s not an Aj Fic if it’s not late)
((Also I know it’s short but this is all I could come up with today i’m tired and haven’t slept at all))
Shiro was silent as he stared at the tv, heart pounding in his chest as he processed just what was on the screen. His breathing began to pick up slightly, hands shaking at his sides as he let himself fall onto the couch, his gaze not moving away from the screen.
They couldn’t be gone.
He couldn’t be gone.
He can’t leave him, he needs him.
"You'll take care of them for me, won't you?" There was a slightly teasing tone to Lance’s voice as he grinned up at the older pilot, blue eyes bright. Shiro couldn’t help but give into the urge to huge him, wrapping his arms around the other tightly. His heart fluttered at the bright laughter that met his ears, slim arms wrapping around his larger form.
"Of course I will." Shiro was reluctant as he pulled away from the hug, holding Lance at arms length as he smiled down at him. He had parted his lips to say something when Matt’s voice met his ears, the two of them looking over at the Holts. A soft sigh passed the older pilot’s lips and he turned his attention back to Lance, whom was staring at him. He cocked his head to the side slightly and had started to question if he was okay when a pair of soft lips met his own.
His heart stopped in his chest, breath catching as he tried to process what was happening. Shiro didn’t even get to react or return the kiss because Lance was pulling away and taking off to join the Holts. Heat rushed to his face as he stood there, frozen in place, a hand coming up to cover his mouth. He turned his head to look at Lance, seeing him looking back at them and waving with a wide grin spread across his face.
"See you when I get back!"
Shiro’s eyes burned as he listened to the voice on the tv declare Lance McClain and the Holts deceased, hands shaking as he raised a hand to cover his mouth.
This couldn’t be happening, Lance had promised he’d come back, he promised and now he was gone?
A broken sob passed his lips, muffled by the hand covering his mouth. He heard the door to the room open, heard a voice that sounded like Keith’s, but he couldn’t focus. His chest started heaving as he let himself drop to his knees, sobs wracking his body. Two arms wrapped around him and he let himself be pulled into his brother’s chest, let himself be held as he cried.
Part 2 for this for @shir-oh-no bc i love you and you deserve soft fluff
A full year has passed since Lance and Shiro had officially met and much to Keith’s horror, the two had become fairly close. Close enough that they found themselves just walking into each other’s dorms without knocking, neither worried about walking in on the other having sex since both seemed to have their eyes on someone already (coughstheyrepiningaftereachothercoughs). They’ve grown used to seeing each other without shirts, though it had taken a while for Shiro to become comfortable enough to allow Lance to see him without his shirt on.
He found himself confiding in Lance about the incident one night when he had woken up in a cold sweat due to a nightmare. He told Lance about the car crash, about how it had killed his and Keith’s (he was adopted by the Shirogane family when he was just a little boy) parents and almost him. Lance had been silent most of the time, not saying anything unless his friend wanted to. In the end, Shiro had ended up tucked away into Lance’s arms and the two fell asleep like that, curled up on the couch in each other’s embrace.
Now, despite all of this, nothing could have prepared Shiro for what he walked in on.
Music was playing throughout the apartment, Lance’s phone plugged into the speakers Shiro had gotten him for Christmas. The warmth that filled his chest at the fact that he was using them quickly faded, however, when he looked to his friend once more.
There was a slight shine to his body, making it obvious he was still wet from whatever he had been doing from the hips up. His skin was hidden below the hips beneath a pair of shorts that had the word ‘Nasty’ written across the ass of them, the cloth clinging to his body in all the right places. Wet hair was matted down to his head, sticking to his forehead slightly, not moving whenever the younger male moved his head. Hips sway and roll at just the right moments, body moving in time with the music he had playing, blue eyes closed as a small grin spread across his face.
Shiro’s eyes were glued to the guy he had found himself attracted to halfway through their first year of knowing each other, watching each move his slim form made. It wasn’t until the music had stopped and Lance had opened his eyes that he realized Shiro had been watching him.
“Shiro!” Lance’s voice raised in a startled screech, a hand moving to rest on his chest over his heart. Shiro seemed to snap out of his daze, a beautiful shade of red standing out against his skin.
“Shit, Lance, I’m sorry-” He was quick to turn away, a hand coming up to cover his blushing face in a poor attempt to hide the flush. He prepared himself for the other to yell at him, but instead, bright laughter met his ears. Cautiously, he looked back at the younger male, dark eyes meeting bright blue hues as Lance grinned behind his hand, his laughter having quickly died down to quiet snickers. There was a slight flush spread across his cheeks, though it wasn’t nearly as bad as Shiro’s.
“Shit, Shiro, you should have told me you were there.” Lance murmured between giggles, hand lowering slightly so his grin was more visible to the older male. A slightly nervous laugh passed Shiro’s lips as he looked away once more, a hand coming up to the back of his neck.
“Sorry, I just, uh...Sorry.” He cleared his throat, turning his attention back to him and finding himself staring once more as he took in the sight of what he assumed was water trailing down Lance’s chest. He darted his eyes up to meet the other’s when he heard a laugh and noticed him coming closer, eyes trained on him. There was an almost playful glint in those beautiful blue orbs as he stopped in front of Shiro, head cocking to the side ever so slightly.
“You'll burn a hole through me if you keep staring, Shiro.” With a shit eating grin, he moved to close the door, Shiro having completely forgotten to do it. Said male was frozen in place, face flushed a dark shade of red that pulled a laugh from the younger male when he noticed it. “Get comfortable, I’ll be out in a minute.” Shiro jumped slightly when he felt Lance pat his back with a little more force than necessary and nodded, clearing his throat.
“Okay- Yeah, uh, okay.” He huffed quietly when he heard Lance laugh again, though his lips did curl upwards slightly as he watched him go back to his room.
“Shiro, I swear to god-” There was laughter in Lance’s voice as he squirmed slightly in the arms wrapped firmly around his waist, trying to keep a grin from spreading across his face.
They had only been watching movies, like they usually did on Saturdays, and at some point, Lance had ended up sitting between Shiro’s legs, his back pressed against the older male’s chest. It wasn’t uncommon for them to end up like this, just laying on the couch in each other’s arms while watching something on the tv.
Only just recently, however, Shiro had learned something about Lance from Keith.
His fingers dug into the smaller male’s sides and a fairly loud squeal left him, his head falling back onto Shiro’s shoulder as he laughed, trying to squirm out of his arms.
“Shiro!”
According to Keith, Lance was extremely ticklish. When Shiro had asked how he knew this, he explained how back in high school, in one of their shared classes, one of their friends, Hunk, had grabbed his sides and Lance squealed like a little girl. After that, Keith and Hunk both took advantage of their new found discovery by tickling Lance whenever he started acting up.
Now, Shiro knew for sure that it was very much so true.
“Shiro, please-!” Lance’s laughter echoed through the dorm as he squirmed in his friend’s arms, hands assaulting his sides. Shiro felt a grin spread across his face as he continued the attack, tightening his hold on the other slightly when he felt him move lower in his arms.
“Magic word?” There was a teasing tone to the older male’s voice and he dug his fingers into Lance’s sides, pulling another squeal from him.
“Please!” Lance tried to arch out of Shiro’s arms, only stopping when he felt his hands move away from his sides and instead rest on his stomach. He breathed in deeply, laughter dying down to giggles before disappearing completely as he tried to even his breathing. “I hate you..” He breathed out, tilting his head back to look at Shiro. Said male just grinned down at him, leaning down to press a barely there kiss against his forehead.
“No you don’t.” Shiro’s bright eyes and overall joyful expression warmed Lance’s heart and he felt a smile of his own curl his lips upwards as he raised a hand to push the other’s head away. The laughter that met his ears made his smile widen slightly and he relaxed into Shiro’s chest, moving his hand to cover one of the ones resting on his stomach.
When Shiro had first run into Lance during his nightly check of the castle, he was honestly surprised. He’s run into the other three before, but never Lance, the Blue Paladin was almost always out cold when Shiro would check the rooms. He had gone to question why the younger paladin was awake when he had simply brushed past Shiro, a tired glint in his eyes. It had confused the Black Paladin and he had confronted Lance about it during breakfast, but he had just brushed it off as being tired and apologized.
The second time, he noticed the Blue Paladin heading for the hangers and curiosity got the best of him, leading Shiro to follow his friend. He was silent as he watched him enter Blue’s hanger. He heard movement, her the thunk her head made against the ground when the lions would lower their heads to let them in through their maw. Next thing he knew, he was looking in to find Lance taking off in Blue. The next morning, the Cuban seemed tired, but he kept up the cheerful persona he usually had around the others. Shiro hadn’t questioned him that time because he didn’t want to upset Lance by telling him he followed him.
The third time, he had actually convinced Lance to let him walk with him. The younger paladin had hesitated at first, an unsure look in his eyes, but Shiro had promised it would be fun and for some reason, he believed him. It actually did end up being fun in the end. The two had gone to the observation deck to look at the stars and Lance would point out star formations Coran had taught him about. By the end of the night, Lance was positively beaming and for some odd reason, it made Shiro feel all warm in fuzzy inside.
This ended up being a nightly routine, the two of them going to the observation deck and observing the stars. It was nice, but Shiro was still confused as to why exactly Lance was staying up every night. He ended up letting the question slip and the other had grown silent before simply stating he didn’t like the dreams about Earth being destroyed. After that, Shiro found himself worrying about Lance more than he had before and it actually managed to make the Blue Paladin laugh with how the leader would hover sometimes.
As the two grew closer, their conversations varied and often ended either on a serious note or a lighthearted one, never in between. Before either of them knew it, they’d be pressed close to each other, Lance’s head resting on Shiro’s every night as they spoke. On more than one occasion. the nineteen year old had fallen asleep on his friend’s shoulder and it made a fuzzy feeling bubble up in Shiro’s chest each time. He’d carry the other to his room and on one night, he had even leaned down and pressed his lips against Lance’s forehead softly before quickly leaving.
One night, Lance had grabbed Shiro’s hand and tugged him in the opposite direction of the observation deck. He had been confused at first, but didn’t question it, smiling softly at the excited glint in the other’s eyes. The teen had ended up leading him to Blue’s hanger, ushering him inside when her large maw dropped open to let them in. The flight had been all but silent except for the random burst of excitement that would leave the Blue Paladin that pulled soft chuckles from the older male.
“Okay, Shiro, I need you to close your eyes for me.” Lance looked back at the other, a small grin on his face. Shiro quirked a brow slightly, three words on the tip of his tongue, but he quickly swallowed them down.
“Alright?” He smiled slightly before letting his eyes slip shut, hands tightening on the back of the pilot’s seat. Lance leaned back and he could feel his hair against his flesh knuckles. He hadn’t really thought it through when he reached his hand out to gently play with his hair, though it seemed to pull a content noise from the Blue Paladin, so he didn’t stop. They rode in silence once more, the only sounds being Lance’s soft hums when Shiro played with his hair.
“Okay, step back for a moment.” The teen stood and moved so he was standing next to the Black Paladin. He gently took hold of his hand and tugged him closer before pretty much manhandling him until he was sitting in the pilot’s seat.
“Can I open my eyes yet?” Shiro snorted when he felt a finger boop his nose, leaning back in the seat slightly.
“Patience, Shiro. Can’t ruin the surprise.” Lance smiled at the other before looking forward, watching as he let Blue pilot herself. He waited until she was right where he wanted her, waiting until she landed on the small planet he had discovered that seemed almost abandoned, before turning to Shiro slightly. “Okay, open them.”
The Black Paladin slowly opened his eyes and froze at the sight. In front of him, the sky was a vibrant hues of violets and blues. The stars stood out like splatters of paint against a canvas, shining brilliantly. He was awed by the sight, the colors swirling together so beautifully. When he was finally able to tear his gaze away from the sky to look at Lance, grey eyes met blue. Lance had just been staring down at him, a soft, gentle smile on his face as he observed the different looks that flickered across the older male’s face.
“Lance, this is beautiful.” Shiro breathed out, a smile spreading across his face. Lance chuckled softly before looking away slightly, a hand coming up to rub the back of his neck.
“I, uh...found this place a while back when I couldn’t sleep. I thought it was beautiful and I thought that maybe you would like it?” There was a shy smile on his face now and it warmed the team leader’s heart. He raised his galra hand and gently took hold of Lance’s hand, intertwining their fingers.
Lance hummed softly as he pressed into the arms wrapped firmly around his smaller form, smiling slightly. He felt a hand move to the back of his head, fingers running through his hair gently and pull a content noise from him. The body in front of him chuckled and he felt the arm around his waist tighten.
“You wake up, kitten?” Shiro’s voice was thick with sleep, making the Blue Paladin assume he had only just woke up not long ago. Finally opening his eyes, he looked up at him with a sleepy smile, a soft giggle leaving him when the older male leaned down to nuzzle their noses together.
“Obviously.” He murmured, eyes slipping shut for a moment before he opened them again, taking in his boyfriend’s appearance. He enjoyed being the only one able to see Shiro like this, his guard down around him. He trusted Lance enough that he let his guard down around him, let himself relax when in the younger male’s arms. It warmed his heart. “When does training start?”
“There’s no training today, remember?” There was an amused tone to his voice as he slid his hand to cup the smaller male’s cheek gently. Lance furrowed his brows slightly and looked down, mind racing as he tried to think of just why they didn’t have to train. When the realization hit him, excitement flooded his tired body and he looked up at Shiro, positively beaming and warming the older male’s heart.
“Are we still going to explore?”
The group had found a small planet that neither Allura nor Coran had seen before and the Alteans had wanted to explore it. They had the paladins check it out to see if it was safe first and make sure there were no galran buildings. When they had come back and told the princess they didn’t even see anything that looked like civilization, she had declared that they would spend the next few days checking the surface out and seeing if there were any living beings on the planet despite the lack of civilized looking areas.
“Of course we are, but let’s stay here for a little longer.” Shiro slipped his arms around his partner once more, smiling softly when said male pressed into his hold slightly.
“I’m totally okay with that, cariño.” Lance murmured, nuzzling into the Black Paladin’s chest. Shiro let out a soft hum and nuzzled his nose into the brunette’s soft hair, taking in his scent. The Cuban smiled and relaxed into his boyfriend’s arms once more.
If the two ended up falling asleep while cuddling, well, none of the others tried to wake them up.
I was looking at the au (this thing) and I wanted to write a drabble about Shiro choking on the battery so here we go--
@mepft look
“Coran, what is this?” The ex-galra commander questioned, looking up from the cylindrical shape in his large hands, yellow orbs staring at it.
Coran turned his attention from the book in his hands to the alien sitting on his couch, brow quirking slightly.
“That’s a battery, Shiro.”
It has only been a week since the man had come home to three aliens sitting in his living room with his daughter. It had taken almost an hour of begging for Allura to convince Coran to not tell the Garrison about the three, the young woman swearing they wouldn’t break anything. From what he learned from the eldest of them, they weren’t planning on staying for much longer anyways, Shiro having stated they needed to return to the shack Allura had found them hiding away in.
Luckily for the older man, they didn’t live in the city, so he wasn’t worried about any neighbors learning about the creatures staying in his home.
“Is it edible?” Shiro’s voice knocked Coran from his thoughts and he was quick to turn around, eyes wide as he stared at the galra.
Shiro had the battery sticking out of his mouth, sharp teeth being so close to breaking through it. Allura would kill him if he let one of them die seeing as she had grown close to them, so he was starting to tell him it was not when the second eldest of the creatures came bursting through the doors with a young dog in his arms.
Lance had finally let himself relax around the humans, having stopped speaking his native tongue by this point.
“Shiro, look what I found! Allura said it’s called a puppy!” Lance’s voice was loud, having not been used to trying to keep his voice at a normal volume, and the older galra visibly jumped. In moments, the battery was passing his lips and he was making a choked noise as he accidentally swallowed the object, yellow orbs wide in surprise. In seconds, both Coran and Lance were at his sides, the puppy in the other alien’s arms whining.
“Shiro! Are you okay!” Coran sounded almost panicked, eyes wide as he placed his hands on the other’s shoulders. Lance’s blue orbs were glued to his friend, his worry obvious as he watched the other have a coughing fit.
Once Shiro had finished coughing, he raised a large hand to his throat and turned his attention to his friend, eyes narrowed.
“Never scare me like again!”
Coran just stared as the two, silence falling over him.
