Hello friends I bought this tiny figurine of my favorite wrestlers of all time: Aja Kong. Born Erika Shishido, Aja Kong is a Japanese professional wrestler of who is biracial: African-American/Japanese. She wanted to be a "baby face" when first starting out (a character in wrestler that is a good guy/girl/everyone cheers for)• • • • • But was encouraged to be a" heel" (the bad guy/girl/character in wrestling that people love to hate on) because she was mixed race, because she was seen as half, etc. YET, she choose to weaponize that and move forward forging her own path to make her mother, herself proud, etc. (Shout-out to biracial folks coming to terms with how you navigate the world with your identity Fuck it up y'all). • • • • One of my favorite heels and one of my favorite wrestlers and just a legend in her own right.
