Surfer Blood at Blue Point Toasted Tour
Surfer Blood closed out the Blue Point Toasted Tour this past Saturday in Tampa, FL. This was one of my favorite shows I’ve photographed this year, Surfer Blood’s performance was on point with rabid fan’s standing in the bushes surrounding the cement stage at Water Works Park. Photos below:

Hailing from West Palm Beach, Florida, Surfer Blood exploded onto the indie scene with debut album ‘Astro Coast.’ Self-recorded in essentially a dorm room, the album ended up garnering acclaim from nearly every vital music site and putting the band on the same stage as bands like the Pixies. With tons of touring that took the band around the world and back again, Surfer Blood followed up their debut with the ’Tarot Classics’ EP, which landed them a spot on Jimmy Fallon.
In 2013, Surfer Blood released ‘Pythons,’ a co-release with Warner Bros. Produced by the legendary Gil Norton, it contains the same dreamy surf rock sensibility of the band’s debut, it sees them buffing their pop gems into dynamic songs. –

The Joy Formidable close out tour at State Theatre - St. Pete, FL
The Joy Formidable have just released their a new record, ‘Hitch‘ and have just ended their North America tour at State Theatre in St. Petersburg, FL., before returning to the UK for nationwide shows in May. The Joy Formidable are one of the most solid bands that has come around in a long long time. I first saw them play live in Jacksonville, FL back in 2013. They played with oozing passion, drawing a giant crowed as they performed on the smaller stage. Seeing them play again last week, playing with that same passion as they did 3 years ago was an equal treat to see as also hearing new songs from ‘Hitch’.
Check out the photo’s of The Joy Formidable at the St. Pete show from April 28, taken by yours truly.

The Joy Formidable is a Welsh alternative rock currently located in London, consisting of vocalist Ritzy Bryan, bass player Rhydian Dafydd and Matt Thomas on drums.
Formed in 2007, childhood friends Bryan and Dafydd originally played together as part of Manchester band, Tricky Nixon, later reforming as Sidecar Kisses, though splitting in 2007.
After the split, they regrouped and returned to Welsh hometown of Mold and formed as The Joy Formidable. The band spent three years together writing, recording and finding fresh material before releasing their debut album in 2011.
Their first album, ‘Big Roar’, peaked at #31 in the UK Album Charts. Following the release of their second album, ‘Wolf’s Law’, which was released in 2013, the band went on tour with Muse.
