Interview Fashion with Karen Williams
By Emmanuel Ajayi
Karen Williams is a sweet one.
I have taken on the suggestions from this masterclass, on what to wear to an interview. And I will be purchasing some turtle necks, shirts and chinos.
Marketing with XAXIS
By Emmanuel Ajayi
This masterclass reminded me of IT and Math lessons in school. Even though it was jampacked with the information I was able to learn about WWP (Wireless Plastic Products), Group M (The worlds leading media investment group), Influencer Marketing (INCA), Programmatic Marketing (An automated method of buying) Copilot (A proprietary technology platform that optimises campaigns using advanced machine learning i.e AI).
I also learned about the different job roles within marketing and its day to day responsibilities.
The one thing I took away from this session was how to negotiate. I had the opportunity to test out my negotiation skills in a role-playing exercise where I was a offered a job opportunity but I was unhappy with some of the benefits so I had to negotiate for better terms.
In order to negotiate successfully you have to :
1.) Research your subject
2.) Know your worth
3.) Prioritise your requests
4.) Have a final position
5.) Be creative
6.) Never, ever let it get personal!
7.) Take your time
8.) Be prepared to walk away
Advertising With Adam&EveDDB
By Emmanuel Ajayi
Visiting Adam&EveDDB was an experience I will never forget. Although they are known for Tv AD’s, they also do design, digital content, social media. As a designer, it was good for me to see how an advertising agency come up with ideas and deliver projects for clients.
They became the pioneers of the John Lewis annual Christmas advert in the UK, which they referred to as the UK Superbowl.
I learnt how they use Crimson Hexagon software when there are trying to learn about their client's consumer behaviour, this data plays a massive role in their advertising outcomes.
Planners who use the data to create insight, serve as the bridge between accounts and creatives.
Social media content is created to tell stories about the clients brand, things like social listening and the influencer market are used to inform and sell a brand.
This week, I had the opportunity to work within a team to create a set of 3 posters for a campaign to sell super glue. My team and I came up with multiple ideas, these mockups were all designed by me.
Channel 4, ITN & The One Show
By Emmanuel Ajayi
Everything you know about TV is fake, however, it was interesting to see the amount of work that goes into producing a show or the news, from the perspective of the runner and researcher to the talent and producer.
One thing I’ve learnt going forward would be to try and submit ideas for new tv shows to commissioners if they’re good enough they’ll actually make it.
Being a news reporter means you have to have beyond fluent level English and narrative pacing.
Got to meet Krishnan Guru-Murthy and wish him a happy birthday, he gave us some sweet life advice.
The one show was an awesome experience too, the camera operators and presenters were well coordinated, I had fun doing applauses and laughter in the audience.
For a career in TV Production, I will definitely be considering applying for the Production Apprenticeship training schemes.
Making Movies with Matty Groves (AppNexus)
By Emmanuel Ajayi
Filmmaking masterclass where I was able to watch short films that were winners in festivals, some of them filmed on smartphones and others on high-end cameras. It motivated me to create whatever I wanted with whatever equipment I had.
I also learned about all the rules to make films, submit films, get funding for films, join communities for films and books to read about films.
Check out my latest film, ‘Me’ an adaptation of Jordan Peele’s ‘Us’ - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_hr_w1FzgmA&t=11s

Jamie Oliver HQ
by Emmanuel Ajayi
The visit to Jamie Oliver’s HQ was eventful, we even got to meet the main man himself. Had a lecture about how he revolutionised the way we perceive healthy eating and we got to see all of his exploits over the course of his career.
We had 2 masterclasses.
The first one was about social media and how it can be used to manage and build a community. I took away some tips and strategies I will be using for my own brands.
The second one was a tv production, where we all took up different roles like camera operators, director, producer, sound operator and myself as the talent chef alongside Jess my co-host talent chef. This took place in the same in-house studio where Jamie produces he’s quick food recipe videos.
I opted for the role fo Talent Chef but I quickly realised how much talent it requires to perform well on camera. Practice makes perfect I guess.
I enjoyed making Tomato Spaghetti!
Snapchat HQ
By Emmanuel Ajayi
I loved visiting Snapchat HQ!
They had amazing croissants too. I learned more about Snapchat as a platform and what they actually target audience is, which 18 - 24 year-olds.
I got introduced to Snapchat Lens Studio, a tool people use to express their creativity, the lens made can be shared with the community or with just your friends.
I made a hat with my logo and got some of my friends to use it.
