Why am I just now noticing that Yamanaka-san (the old lady Kei stays with) is probably called that because she lives in the middle (Naka) of the mountains (Yama)...

Spoil ajin for me: Does everyone just split up in the end? 😞

So, we’ve gotten two conclusions so far, in the form of the anime and the live action movie. The live action movie doesn’t even include Kai or Kou in the first place, and if I’m remembering correctly, in both the anime and live action movie, Satou is captured, his squad is broken up, and he may or may not escape again right at the end. In the anime I think we get a group shot with Kei/Tosaki/Izumi/several others, and there’s a very quick scene with Kei running into Kai again, but not with any convincing resolution. (Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong, it’s been a couple years since I saw them.)

The manga, on the other hand, is still ongoing, or anyway has at least one or more chapters remaining in which we can hope for a satisfactory resolution.

long time no see dude, I am officially going through an Ajin renaissance and holy shit, I'm picking up so much on how these characters work (esp Kei and the government) and the lore behind Satou and???? How did I miss this much in my original reading???? (@ Chap 53 right now)

I don’t know but I’m looking forward to doing the same! I loved keeping up with the new chapters but deep down I’m really not a fan of serials. Stories reach so much deeper when you can just sit down and read straight through and really connect all the dots!!! Looking forward to seeing more of your thoughts as you keep reading through!!

Geez, I’m flipping backward from volume 13 trying to find a panel, and I really haven’t reread a lot of the plot since the Forge arc.

Some chilling/touching scenes and things I didn’t remember: 

-Satou regenerates his head at least once fighting all the soldiers in Iruma base

-the Sato squad left Tanaka behind, and the prime minister(?) was planning to seal Tanaka up in concrete

-Kou using a blowtorch to get Akiyama and the others out of the metal barrels

-”Iruma, the town where Nagai Kei was born, grew up... and died.”

-the fact that Satou was captured/Blep stood in for Satou

-kinda forgot that Sokabe also definitely got stabbed

Was looking for the panel that used the word ‘dotard,’ for ajin week, but I’m not seeing it. Will continue to look when I read through!
