“Another drink for the lady from the gentleman at the bar!”
Ava smiled as she sat back in her seat and took the glass of beer the waiter had placed down on the table in front of her “Not the kind of drink I was after but I suppose it will do,” she said with a pout as she looked up to him through her eyelashes.
Glancing around the waiter bent at the waist slightly to whisper “Well I don’t think he could afford the wine.”
She allowed a smirk to come to her lips as she glanced up to the young man serving her from behind the glass of beer. Shuffling slightly in her seat and adjusting her skirt she leaned over to him and curled her finger toward herself to get him to come closer “How would you like to supply me with a drink?” she asked sweetly, locking her gaze with his.
His facial muscles relaxed as he stared back into her eyes and gave over any of his independent thinking “Of course,” he agreed in a monotone manner “Anything you’d like Miss Jacobson.”
“Wonderful,” she answered with a sparkling grin as she placed the beer onto the table with a thud. Getting to her feet she brushed down her long skirt and gently placed her finger beneath his chin “Meet me outside in a minute. No longer,” she winked as she walked to the back of bar, heading to the back door and slipping outside.
She stayed waiting in the shadows of the alley, her fangs ready for a feed and the thirst for blood causing veins to ripple under the skin beneath her eyes. The door opening excited her and she prepared herself to pounce…
It all happened so quickly it was over in the blink of an eye. One second she was the attacker and the next she was the victim, pinned up against the wall by two hands pressing against her shoulders “So you were after a different kind of drink too hey,” she said breathlessly as the face of the man who’d been sat at the bar came into view.
“You’re a vampire as well,” he observed with a smirk, the British accent that matched her own surprising her “I thought you were coming out here for some air.”
“You laced the drink you sent over for me,” she replied, once the penny had dropped, impressed with his efforts “Are you going to let me go or are we staying pressed against this wall for the rest of the evening?”
“Beer hid it better than wine would have,” he said with a shrug as he let her go and brushed his hands down his jacket “I’m guessing this is my hunt over with then,” he continued stepping back as a mischievous smirk came to his lips “Unless you’re offering to open a vein?”
She scoffed as she turned her back and flipped her hair off her shoulder, baring some of her skin to him in defiance “You’re not getting anywhere near my supply,” she said heading back to the bar “What happened to my waiter?”
“Oh he was delicious,” was the reply and she allowed her jaw to drop in both shock and offence.
“Well your hunt definitely isn’t over then,” she said glancing back to him over her shoulder and nodding her head for him to follow her “You owe me a bite.”
“I thought you said I wasn’t allowed,” he answered, his eyes sparkling with mischief as he stepped up to follow her “How about a name before we go off to give this town hell?”
Cocking her head to one side she said “Ava,” trying out the new shortened version of her name for the first time and liking how it sounded “And you?”
His head ducked as he tucked his hands into the pockets of his trousers and stepped closer. Tilting his head he smiled down to her “Kol.”
