How about "Dry your damp eyes" taken from owl city's rainbow veins? ~💙
oh! okay! I have used most of my writing juice on the fic I just finished so this is gonna be a lot less descriptive but here we go!
it sounds to me like a 5 + 1 fic, with single dad Logan and kid Patton. and it’s about how Logan, throughout the years, comforted his son when he was upset or hurting.
he doesn’t always feel like he’s doing a good job of it, really. he worries about how emotional Patton is because Logan isn’t emotional and he doesn’t really know how to deal with emotions and sometimes he feels like he’s not really a good enough dad for Patton.
but no matter what hour it is, no matter how old Patton is, Logan is so proud that if Patton is upset, he’s never afraid to come to him. whether it’s a boy that broke his heart or a party that went wrong and frightened him or a friend saying something nasty, Patton will always come back to him.
so, if that’s the case, Logan thinks he can’t really be doing such a bad job.
of course, by the nature of a 5 + 1 fic, Logan comforts Patton 5 times and, once, Patton comforts him back. and if Logan hadn’t already been aware of how emotionally intelligent and kind his son is he would have absolutely no doubt now, as Patton—now an adult, grown-up with a kid of his own—holds him, tight and grounding, as he grieves.
there was a lot Logan felt he’d missed out on his life—either due to his relationship with his family or his having a child so young or his sexuality or his gender or any number of things—but Logan could never be more grateful that he hadn’t missed out on Patton. truly, his son was the best thing that could have ever happened to him and he tells him so and he tells him so and he tells him so because he doesn’t want there to be a time that Patton could forget it.
so Patton holds him and he cries and he dries his eyes and they both know that they’re loved, completely and unconditionally.
