You have pretty eyes
Pretty sure this is you Mar
Shadow business?! Any leads?
“I have had little luck, and time as it were, in finding strong elemental conduits, friend.” Albus replies, flinching at the sudden ‘intrusion’ in his lab, but he continues to peer into his microscope nonetheless.“Perhaps if we started with Black Calcite, but used a limiter glyph so it doesn’t explode in our faces.”
He paused to gesture with one hand at tome on the table next to where he was working. “Feel free to refer to that book on focus crystals. Something else in there might strike your fancy other than what I suggested. This will be your focus after all.”
*edge of patience, and stiffly sitting up in the air* What's a containment Rune?
“Something this Order has endeavoured towards perfecting for quite some time now - however, the magic behind it is still volatile at best.” A glimmer shone in Albus’s eye, for it was time to lecture. Were he inclined to do so, he would have rolled up his sleeves. “A containment rune is one of the foundations of the sort of glyph magic we here use on a daily basis. A basic glyph is without alignment but it will capture and copy any elemental force directed into it. Some other attributes can be gleaned from other magical sources, the feeling of heightened luck, strength, etcetera. So in theory, if you focused some of your power into a containment rune it might mimic the power.”
Pausing, he looked at Mar to see if she was still paying attention.
“The downside to these runes are that they collapse in on themselves when holding in too much power. Even if paired with the an absorption limiter glyph, that would severely weaken the magic, so I doubt that would be preferable either.” More thinking on this a moment. Perhaps copying and mimicking was not in this reaper’s best interest. “I don’t think you want a watered-down shadow spell.”
Even more pondering for a moment followed.
“Have you considered looking into artifacts that serve to enhance elemental powers? A ring, or other such item? Perhaps you could use the focus of the item to channel your magic?”
*floating on her side looking more hopeful* Ichor just sucks. *strangely proud of neutral role* Can I do some trials or something?
“Trials? Of what nature? ”Combat? Magical? Time trials?” A low chuckle sounded, for that last one had been a joke. “Please elaborate and I will see what I can do to comply with your request.”
*sad sigh* I was hoping the same. Dragon bone is one.
That got Albus’ attention. Setting down his tools, he folds his arms lightly across his chest and faces the other being in the room properly.
“Dragon bone? Well, that certainly would be difficult to acquire.” A pause as he considered where one might even begin to search for some in the immediate area. “Even if we were to find powdered Dragon bone at an apothecary, more often than not it’s just bovine bones mixed with iron pyrite. Have to make a living somehow, I suppose - but I dislike being cheated out of my hard earned gold.”
Another pause and a thoughtful ‘hmm’. “Well, if dragon remains are one anchor, then it’s only natural to assume that objects and creatures of great power can channel such a force.” He casually looks at Mar with a faint smile. “Your kin are presumably deathless, transcend death, and literally are death. As is my mortal understanding. I’m not privy to any great secrets of reapers - no concerns over that, I hope. So how does one channel the powers of death itself? And especially in a neutral way? Dragons are neutral beings at heart - I think if you used demon bone your powers might decide to twist towards ruin, while if you used the remains of anything inherently divine, you might become far too benign past the point of neutrality.”
The only other thing he could think of was perhaps channeling relics, but to absorb, hold, and filter such power? There was little that would be able to handle such a force.
