also to go with the minder reader post, i have been professionally diagnosed with general anxiety disorder(among other things) so that could correlate with my worries lol
I was thinking about this most of the day today and I bet you didn't expect me to go full amateur psychology geek in response to this but 🤷♀️
Anyway it actually makes sense after thinking about it.
11-14 year old humans generally want to discover their own identity, develop attachments (fit in), protect their self-esteem, and develop control over their life.
Worrying about someone being able to read your mind would reasonably be the worst possible scenario (which anxiety of course always jumps to!) working against those four wants/needs.
In conclusion middle school is the worst...
