To everyone who has mentioned that Akachanman from Anpanman (アンパンマン) may not be a girl, I think this is definitely an interesting piece of the puzzle, but I ultimately don't find gender ambiguity to be a disqualifying attribute when it comes to the question of being a magical girl. I think it's notable that the character's stylings are frilly and feminine.

Made another fankid again, this time with AnHorror!

Meet Sourdough-chan, She was once found in an abandoned bakery somewhere in the forest. She was born from a shooting star (just like Anpanman) and ended up gaining some supernatural yet somewhat uncontrollable abilites She has very big anger issues, so beware if you upset her, she will probably beat you until you stop moving(/hj). One of her abilities is that she can talk and understand Baikinman's minions and are very friendly to her (The Kabirunrun, Yamirunrun, etc...), this is extremely useful because she can stop the minions from attacking her and her friends.

Anpanman and Horrorman found her in that abandoned bakery and decided to raise her and become her parents. Akachanman's part of the family, too. He was adopted by Anpanman and Horrorman!

Okay. Anyone else think that Akachanman's theme goes way too hard to be about a character that's literally a baby? Asking for a friend.

Milkbouya is a little baby bottle! He’s always full of hot milk, ready for any hungry baby he happens to meet. Whenever he runs out of milk he can refill at Milk Island. He’s able to fly, holding out his arms like the wings of a little airplane. Although he’s pretty much a baby himself, he often acts as a caregiver for his even babyer friend Akachanman, who depends on him for milk to fuel his baby superpowers. Together these babies are almost unstoppable.

My family partner pointed out to me that Akachanman from Anpanman (アンパンマン) may be a Showa era magical girl. It’s an intriguing idea!
