So been readong fics and trying to do asks for my WoL, Akagi, and the one thing about the Thordan fight is I keep wondering how I can write it so Akagi can call out Ser Zephirin for a one-on-one. Doesn't care that he's hyped up on primal juice, just wants a chance to lay the bastard low. To be honest, doubtful the cowardly whoreson would take it, even if the odds are (seemingly) in his favor.

But what if he did? This requires pondering. And also the idea of cou de grace-ing Thordan in a VERY vicious manner, because lo-fi soft lizardboi can have little a righteous vengeance, as a treat. >3

(I grew up on over-the-top heroics, the earliest of early anime, and comics and stories qoth more of the same. And that seems to have influenced how stories form in my head. XD)

9, 14, and 17 from the soft OC asks?

(Using Akagi, here, since I do most asks for him. x3) 9. What's something they will never fail to get excited over?

If you would like to see a two meter tall dragonman with chronic RBF light up like a child on their nameday (admittedly, he does for that as well xD), then just go with him on a trip to a place he has never been to before. One of the biggest draws for Akagi to leave his home in Kugane (well, near Kugane, there's nuance) and travel to Eorzea was curiosity. Having become fast friends with lass who travelled with one of the ships that regularly visited Kugane from Eorzea sparked a wanderlust that has never truly left him. It's one of the biggest reasons he agreed to accompany Wuk Lamat for her trials. Seeing new sights, different cultures, trying new cuisine, discovering all the wonder the star has yet to reveal... that will never fail to excite him. (And he has vowed to find a way to bring the ladies to come see it, as well. x3)

14. What's something they unashamedly adore?

This one is tricky, as the man looks prickly as hell at a passing glance, but is basically a marshmallow stuffed teddy bear once you get to know him. xD Well, aside from the obvious things - his bright orange chocobo, Jiromaru. Jiro is a very friendly bird, bold and daring, much like his master, and Akagi spoils him rotten. xD Now, that is not to say the bird is fed poorly - Akagi takes utmost care in making sure Jiro has the proper feed and portions, and gets plenty of exercise. But there may occasionally be a particularly plump pumpkin left in his stall, or a few extra krakka root in his trough. Because the Warrior of Light would be nowhere without his trusty steed. x3 (Akagi's manner of obtaining Jiromaru is not quite in-line with the canon "received from a Grand Company" - he most certainly was adopted from Bentbranch, though I've not written that yet. xD Also, I got his name from an episode of Cowboy Bebop. Ten points if you know which episode. ^_~)

17. What's their sleeping position when they're on their own?

On his own? Akagi kind of sprawls a bit. xD Not to the point he is falling off the bed, mind you. But he is a very tall lad and when he finds a bed that actually fits him, he revels in just being able to relax and stretch out. x3 Thanks for the ask, @captainderyn! Needed something to stretch the ol' writing muscles!

So, I have discovered/realized/been reminded of something.

Whenever I write about Akagi's path through Ultima Thule, I will need to rewatch cutscenes to verify some things (and find a list online). But also, I may will definitely be bawling my eyes out the whole time. Because as much as there were times before this that FFXIV made me cry, Endwalker punched me so very hard in my feelsbox. Twice. TWICE! The second time was the hardest.

I couldn't listen to "Close in the Distance" without tearing up before, because of the events happening when it is first heard, and the words in the song. After The Primals revealed that it is Ardbert singing to the WoL, well...

It is a gorgeous song, I absolutely love it to pieces, even more so with that lore. And after two very talented animators made videos regarding that information...

I cannot hear it without tearing up very hard.

Because it's that memory of Ardbert saying "If you need a push, I'll be right there behind you" that pulls Akagi back to his feet. Because maybe it wasn't just a memory...

Ever go looking for a song because part of it is stuck repeating in your head? So you find it and listen to it and you get an OC montage in your head?

Yea, so imagine my surprise when I go looking for MAN ON A MISSION's "Raise Your Flag", find it, and then get my own Akagi montage, ending with that last fight in Endwalker. XD

I wish I were good with animation and/or video editing. >.<

Random thought that pops into my head every time I run any of the events in FFXIV that are from the Far East/Hingashi/Doma as Akagi and thinking he might gently correct them, mention "I am from Kugane, actually. It is nice to see a bit of home this time of year, though. Thank you" and perhaps speak more at length on the subject. Or, if it something he didn't know much about deapite coming from the region, like some specific Doman celebrations, he would probably not say anything and enjoy learning something new about his homeland's closest neighbors.

This popped into my head once again with Heavensturn. And after grabbing an omikuji, Akagi spoke with the hebi bugyo about the quest. And then spoke with the hebi doshin for a bit of a refresher (I also wanted to hear the lore about the FFXIV tsuchinoko legend. X3)

Does Akagi remember all twelve noble beasts?

He will either only get ten or eleven, OR he'll remember all twelve, but get the order mixed up. XD

Will he tell the hebi bugyo that their homeland's legendary good luck serpent bears a STRIKING resemblance to a certain other sacred serpent from another Shard?

Prooooobaly not! As the telling would be rather long, and even leaving out parts not related to The Most Sacred and Divine Serpent of Ranka, she might still think him a bit mad. XD

But will he mention it to the Scions?

Oh heck yea! XD Probably Shtola first, and Urianger and Raha next, as I am not sure if any of the others would have any knowledge of the adorable Scree!-machine. XD

Also, while I did not notice with Akagi, when I ran on Ameh and Gevial, those two (ESPECIALLY Ameh xD) seemed to give the "ornament" they won a bit of the stinkeye when it just appeared next to the empty prize chest. I was playing on low settings for my poor laptop's sake, but the cant and the rabbit seemed more suspicious than the giant lizardboi. Maybe he was just excited, but his glance seemed much less warily suspicious. XD

So, I think I know a reason why some writing is evading me in regards to Akagi. And I think it might be related to why I don't see many au ra WoLs with his style of horns. Because, while I absolutely adore his look, and those horns are forever one of his defining features, there is one small issue:

His horns extend past the back of his head.

And the issue there is figuring out how he sleeps in a bed. Because his horns would either prop his head at a weird angle, or his pillow(s?) would get horribly skewered (though that image is rather hilarious, not gonna lie xD).

Rather wish I was either much better at drawing or gpose, because I just had an image pop into my head from a recent-ish meme:

Akagi: "Feo Ul, my beloved branch, I believe we will have to kill this man."

Feo Ul, clearly excited: "Wonderful!"

Incidentally, you could swap in Gruda (Akagi's mammet Garuda) here, but for some reason he's the only one who can understand her. So from the outside it would be:

Akagi: "Gruda, I believe we will have to kill this man."

Gruda: *joyful screeches of destruction* (Translation: "None shall ever find the body!")
