she has the basics on her, usually… laptop, charger, wallet, notes. There’s lots of random stuff at the bottom of her bag though. Spare change and broken old pens. USBs with data she forgets about. She’s not a very tidy person… and usually she only uses the bag to go to and from work, so it’s fine.

Akane is the scientist who’s overseeing the simulation- she technically went to college for psychology reasons but liked messing with electronics as a hobby so the company stuck her here.
She’s really interested in how humans function on a mental level, and believes that all humans are inherently selfish. After college she tried job hunting, and ended up just being a pencil pusher at the university she graduated from anyways. Unhappy with most things she sort of just argued with people online… until Morning Star Co. reached out to her. The idea of replicating the human psyche was really appealing to her!!! How neat!
What she wasn’t prepared for was the level of awareness these AI started developing. The first one she started having real conversations with was, of course, the little scheming one she started calling ‘Red’- for his eyes, and the fact that he was always doused in blood, since they could only really talk at the end of each run. She saw him as an interesting variable at first- a lab rat really, to study. But she soon became fond of the little thing, and a run-in with Pierrot (after they won the game alone one round, which is another story) sort of… made her realize that these ai were on the same level of consciousness as real people. Red went from her pet project to. Her strange little creation son thing. When her project concluded, she made sure to secure a robot body for him- she offered pierrot one as well, but they refused. She wants to connect with pierrot more, but pierrot simply doesn’t trust her and it’s exhausting to try reasoning for either of them.
She’s also right across the hall from her most BELOATHED coworker (aka the one she speaks with enough to hate) Kenta, who’s always held an interest in how humans function physically. They share opposing views on the ai- Akane sees them as their own people, while Kenta views them as objects to be used for human convenience. They don’t really get along, but end up working together anyways.
