Kikoreno Kid~

Anyways, I've been meaning to get to this for awhile, so here is my Kikoreno fankid, Hikaru Ichikawa! The name was taken from a headcanon by @nocandnc ( @quinowskie also has a super cool Kikoreno fankid named Hikaru, so shout out to them!)

A final thing I want to note before delving into Hikaru's character is that I only just finished watching Kaiju No. 8 Season 2 because I went quite a while without access to CrunchyRoll. I am also not really caught up with the manga (I can never figure out where to read it), so I had no idea about Kaiju No. 15's appearance. This was drawn and colored before I got to that episode where No. 15 debuted. Hikaru's matching black sailor outfit was a complete and utter coincidence ^^'

Hikaru Ichikawa

Physical Info:

16 Years Old

5'3" (roughly 2 inches taller than Kikoru), slim build much like her mother

She has her mom's eyes and her hair also mostly takes after Kikoru, albeit slightly lighter and with streaks of Reno's white coming through (not sure if that's genetically sound, but it's anime so idc)

She likes to curl her hair slightly because she thinks its cute. Like her mom, she also puts her hair in pigtails, but she wears them lower on her head.

Personality:

Hikaru is generally fairly serious in nature, but more relaxed than her parents. She isn't terribly outgoing, but she always works to ensure she gets along with the people around her. She is more calm and collected like her dad, and is not nearly as boisterous and dripping with confidence like her mom. On the contrary, she is actually quite humble and always looks for opportunities to learn from others.

She is a really diligent worker like her parents, but she doesn't have their same proclivity to overwork themselves. She understands the value of rest and how results improve when breaks are taken properly. This is likely something that her parents taught her while trying to keep her from repeating the same mistakes they made when they were younger. Ultimately, she is very responsible, striving to take good care of her body and mind.

Capabilities:

Through Hikaru's diligent training, she has become very strong and speedy with excellent endurance and reflexes. She still has a decent way to go before she is physically ready to be an officer, but seeing that she is just a high schooler, Hikaru isn't worried about being fully prepared by the time she graduates.

Hikaru is also very intelligent with a knack for academics. She easily could be nearing finishing university if she wanted to, but she really wanted to social experience that comes with going through school normally (Kikoru was more than okay with this decision).

Hikaru is very skilled with the battle axe, just like her mom. Her skills do need more refining before she is truly a master, but she is currently showing great potential.

Relationships

Reno - Reno is a very responsible dad to say the least, but he isn't any stricter than Kikoru. Hikaru has a very positive relationship with her father. Reno was very happy when Hikaru decided her wanted to jion the Defense Force, and they often train together. Reno is super proud of his daughter and how willing she is to learn and improve. Hikaru is greatly appreciative of how willing her dad is to train her, give her advice, and just all around support her. Reno also makes an active effort to show affection to his daughter in attempts to avoid having a strained relationship like Kikoru and Isao had. Kikoru values the effort Reno puts in to create a loving home.

Kikoru - Striving to be like her own mother, Kikoru is a very loving and affectionate mother towards Hikaru. They get along very well, and Kikoru has always been incredibly supportive of her daughter. Admittedly, when Hikaru first told her parents that she wanted to be a Defense Officer as a child, Kikoru was initially pretty conflicted. Kaiju slaying is an incredibly dangerous job, does she really want her child to pursue that? Was this what her parents felt like when she told them that she wanted to join the Defense Force too? However, like her parents, she decided to support Hikaru's decision and train her to be a capable officer who will not die in battle. In turn, Hikaru truly appreciates all of the time and energy her mother has sacrificed to prepare her for the JAKDF.

Akari Minase/Furuhashi - Reno and Kikoru wanted to have a child, but since Kikoru is such an asset on the battlefield, they opted for having a surrogate, which Akari was more than willing to do after she and Iharu were finished having children. (This is yet another headcanon from @nocandnc) Even after giving birth to Hikaru, they saw a lot of each other since their families are close. Akari has greatly functioned as a second mom to Hikaru, being someone Hikaru feels she can talk to about anything. Akari's emotional intelligence and gentle demeanor furthers Hikaru's comfortability around her.

Akari Minase x Iharu Furuhashi fan kiddos

AkarIharu needs more love imo, so why not do what I do best: make fake children for fictional characters. Akari and Iharu look very different from each other, which gave me a lot to work with here. I especially loved playing around with Ihiro and Minato's hair styles.

Being 100% here, I didn't put that much time, effort, or thought into these guys (not as much as my OkoHoshi kids anyways), but I still think they turned out alright and I may even continue to draw them in the future.

With that said, basic info about them is below the cut. Also, forgive me if the grammar, spelling, or sentence structure isn't great, or if this whole thing just doesn't make a lot of sense, I wrote most of this at like 2 AM.

Haru Furuhashi

24 Years Old

5'2"

Hair color inherited from Iharu, hair type and and eyes from Akari

Temperament is very similar to her mom's. She's a friendly, kind, individual who's very sociable. She genuinely cares about the people around her, and strives to be helpful. With her pleasant personality and her good looks, she's become a pretty popular person and is well liked by those around her.

She's never had an interest in kaiju slaying, but she does truly appreciate the hardworking members of JAKDF. Instead, she decided to become an elementary school teacher since she loves working with children. This interest in part came from her helping her parents take care of her little brothers growing up. She realized how much she loves caring for young children, so she became a teacher.

Ihiro Furuhashi

22 Years Old

5'8"

Hair mostly takes after Iharu, but Akari's darker hair had a little impact on the color. He really likes his dad's hairstyle (or at least Iharu's hairstyle when he was younger, I imagine he'd probably change things up a bit when got older), so Ihiro's hair style resembles his dad's quite a bit. He has his father's eye shape, but his mother's eye color. He also has his dad's sharp teeth.

He is very much like his father in terms of personality. Ihiro is an incredibly bold and loud individual who is dripping in confidence. However, he does not have as short of a temper as his dad and is not as competitive. Ihiro thinks very highly of himself, so others' perception of him don't really matter to him as much. He still likes to prove himself if he can and will brag about being better than others if he has a tangible expression of that (e.g. a high score on a test), but he doesn't get super down if he can't beat someone in something.

He is a recent addition to the JAKDF, joining after graduating college. He passed the entry exam with flying colors. He's a very skilled officer who is showing great promise for the future.

Minato Furuhashi

20 Years Old

5'10"

Hair color comes from Akari, but his hair type and eyes come from Iharu. Like Ihiro, he really likes their father's taste in hair styles, so he went with a style very similar to his (being completely meta here, Minato basically just has Iharu's manga hair style). He has his dad's sharp teeth too.

Minato is a confident fellow, very much like his father, but a bit more toned down like his mom. He's not quite as full of himself compared to his older brother, but he is definitely still self-assured. He does care about the opinions of others as he is a big proponent of teamwork and not handling things by one's self. He actively tries to avoid bragging to make himself more likeable.

He is currently a university student, but once he graduates, he plans on joining the JAKDF. He is training very hard to ensure he is in peak physical and mental condition to be an officer. He also takes a lot of advice from his parents and Ihiro while training.

Akira Furuhashi

18 Years Old

5'6"

His appearance takes almost entirely after his mom. He's often been referred to as a mini-Akari or male-Akari.

Akira is kind of the odd one out in the family, being the only introvert and softer-spoken individual. He is also very level headed and rational, many regard him as wise beyond his years. He does feel inferior to the rest of his family, but he keeps those insecurities to himself.

He is a university freshman who is trying to figure out what he wants to do with his life. He has absolutely no interest in joining the JAKDF, but he doesn't know what he wants to do. His family insists he's fine and that he has plenty of time to figure this out, but it still worries him nonetheless.

Shout out to @nocandnc for the inspo to do this. They had various headcanons regarding kn8 couples as parents, and I decided to use them to create my own fan kiddos. For this piece in particular, I really liked their headcanon that Akari and Iharu would really want to have kids and even want a bit of a bigger family too. Thanks a lot!
