Woa, first Tartsniffer post that is NOT Jimstan...this is a moment in history.
I've been rereading "The Heart That Fed", really only the Mareno chapters. I hate to say that Artemio easily became my favorite character, and I just fall in love with him over and over, every time I reread that fic.
The piece above is something I cooked up in like 20, maybe 30 minutes. From Chapter 11, "Calypte Anna." I was a big fan of the hummingbird symbolism, but I was so tired while drawing this that I completely forgot that I had intended to have a hummingbird in the reflection of the car's window. I might edit this post(or reblog it) with the proper editing tomorrow.
I can't say I'm a big fan of this piece; there are so many little things that could be fixed. The process of this drawing made me so mad. I had completely forgotten to separate Stan from the background, so both linearts were on the same layer (which, for me, means no good shading opportunities). I'm also really shitty at drawing cars, so the car could have been drawn better. The shading is...so shit, and so is the lighting.
Some part of me feels like I shouldn't be so negative about a piece of fan art... I'm so sorry, gulp. Besides that, this was fun to draw; it's at an angle I don't usually draw in, so very experimental.
Ugh, I ranted too much about the art itself that I've forgotten to mention what scene this is inspired by. This is inspired by the very last bits of the chapter, here. (Hence why I really wanted to add the hummingbird, LOL)
Aside from the Stan art, I've always really wanted to draw Artemio. I'll be honest, I kinda always had a very different version from the one (kinda) confirmed. I thought he just looked like a regular mexican uncle, just...hotter? Im not sure, the point is, Lalo Salamance was not who i thought he'd look like.
So heres a couple of screenshots of me figuring out which look of his I felt like i liked drawing more.
That's it, bai :3c @bittersweet-jack-of-no-trades is the Author of THTF, definitely check them out, heehee
