Wait sorry—who is Jim? I’m relatively new to the tumblr side of the fandom and I’m just confused on who that is and how him and Stanley r shipped together

So about 11-ish years ago Alex Hirsch dropped this on us. Mostly people ship them as toxic old man yaoi, I do not because I am not young enough to enjoy toxic ships anymore and yearn for content where Stan is treated kindly by someone he actually has a past with. Oh yeah and also he's a combustible skeleton man.

Someone should draw Jimmy in the OG Johnny Blaze outfit, that shit is so camp and ridiculous I love it. It'd make Stan loving him even more ridiculous, because here is this man who exudes masculinity and terror but he's dressed in an ugly ass blue jumpsuit, so here we are thinking "Oh Stan is in love with this terrifying biker man." and it's literally just a guy whose fashion sense is if Evil Knievel launched a fashion line with Elvis.

Okay, okay, I'm no longer in danger of any colleagues to be wary of my chuckles, so yes.

I love it. Old stupid Jimmy seeing this young eye candy and trying hard to come with evidences of his affection (while refusing to admit he's broke and that he fears that if he stops with gifts, Stan would leave him). And young (also) stupid Stan who not just likes the attention, but actively endorses it (while ignoring how genuine his own affection is).

... actually, while thinking of it, I took some inspiration from this post, so behold:

- past stunt double Jimmy, who is well past his prime and getting any roles. He lives on leftover royalties (that are unjustifiably low because young Jimmy signed his contracts without reading. And because nowadays he's not knowledgeable of any relevant laws and practices to resettle it).

- one day Jimmy stumbles on a young talented man who shows some acting talent on a street, and to impress the youngster accidentally promises to get him a main role in a big movie.

- freshly kicked out Stan who had his luck in catching an eye of some big actor, and so decides to seduce him even more to surely get into acting.

- both aren't truthful, not about their real feelings, not about their real life situations.

...now excuse me, I have more of laughing scheduled XD

I have the entire bronze age comic set of ghost rider and the more I re-read them I'm like "Jimmy is gonna be the goofiest character ever." because I can guarantee Alex made him look imposing and intimidating, but Johnny Blaze is literally a former stunt performer who spends his days chasing down a slightly campy ass devil to free his soul from Zarathos and gets emo about it because he wants to marry his childhood love and live a normal life.

And as if the OG Ghost rider comics weren't weird enough as is, Alex would throw in something ridiculous like "Jimmy sacrificed his soul to the devil to save his father Simon Crash (Let's be honest, Alex is skirting the trademark line very finely lmao) who is dying and performs stunts in a traveling carnival whilst Stan tends the ring toss booths and their eyes meet from across the fair grounds and Jimmy immediately knows "This is someone I want to perform large scale arson and tax fraud with."
