Am thinking of Remy, in a human AU or something, having. Pretty neglectful parents. Like yeah they provided for him and stuff, but other than that. He was kinda just an afterthought to them.
They wouldn't y’know. Tuck him into bed, or kiss him goodnight, or tell him bedtime stories, or greet him with warm smiles in the morning, or hug him when he needed it, or ask him how he was doing, or listen when he tried to tell them about something he liked, or told him that they were proud, or played with him. He was just kinda. Alone most of the time.
And after several long years of. Trying to catch their attention, by being the damn best of the best, he kinda. Gave up on that. Cause maybe he just wasn't good enough. Maybe he didn't. Deserve that sort of thing. That warmth.
And y’know. If you can never be good enough, what's the point of trying so hard anymore??? And that mentality kinda led him towards self destruction, but it was /fine/. Not like he mattered much to anyone.
But then Remus (lmao of course it's remsleep) comes into his life. And Remus is so fucking weird. Weird and //persistent// he would learn, after Remus insisted on very loudly inserting himself into Remy’s life.
And that. Wasn't an unpleasant thought. Remus was fun, there was a warmth that surrounded him that he found comforting, and he was. So unashamedly himself. In a way that Remy found admirable. But f u c k was the thought of getting //close// to Remus terrifying.
Because Remy isn't used to that! He isn't used to being cared for, or listened to, or thought about. He's never /had/ that and god he //wanted// it but. Fuck there are about a million and one things he could do to screw up, and. If Remus decides one day. That maybe he wasn't worth it. That would absolutely crush him.
So basically what I'm saying is ✨slow burn✨ where Remy absolutely does everything in his power to chase Remus away, but Remus is like haha can't get rid of me that easy bitch, and then hesitant friendship, and then //pining//
(Also?? Scene where Remy meets Remus’ family maybe???? And is. So surprised by the warm loving environment. And like Remus’ mom coming to hug Remy in greeting, and Remy is like hey what the f u c k is happening right now skdkdkfkfkf)
