A well-used kitchen; open cookbooks scattered over your counter with your handwriting scrawled in the margins (they're all substitutions he recognizes; ingredients he likes). The novel you told him about lying dog-eared on your bedside table. The brand of hand lotion that makes him think of you any time he smells it. The selfie you'd forced him into taking with you the last time you got coffee together, clipped together with the receipt into a magnet on your fridge (you never told him you'd printed it, but it's cute).

This page actually does warm my heart. Aki, standing in the middle of all that carnage with two devil colleagues whose mess he now has to handle, and giving the order for Meowy to go to the vet. He could have brushed Power off or just had Meowy released, but instead he sends the insubordinate fiend's kitty for a checkup. Softie.

Self-indulgent and likely unoriginal take but I think Aki would be repressed pre-relationship in a way that makes him Quite Horny when he's in love. This is canon-consistent characterization To Me.

You know how he insists he won't smoke but then agrees to try one and gets so hooked that he rushes in asking Himeno for her last cig during the Infinity Devil arc? How he initially insists he does not care about Denji + Power but then centers his life around taking care of them?

That but with sex. You blow his mind one time and he does a 180 from occasional dispassionate masturbation to leaking through his clothes anticipating the next time he gets to touch you.

Thinking about little grade school Aki pestering his parents for a dog. He's responsible, and they have all that open space nearby, and his classmates have pets, so why can't he? Then at least he'd have someone to come outside and play catch with him, since his parents are always busy fussing over Taiyo. They say it’s because their time and finances are stretched thin enough already that Aki can’t have a dog, and it only makes him more bitter and lonely.

When his family dies, he realizes it was for the best that they denied him—maybe the dog would have trotted back to the house after Taiyo, looking after him like his older brother should have done, and Aki just would have been responsible for another death that day. It doesn’t make sense to have a pet while he’s committed to Public Safety, either. It wouldn’t be fair to leave them waiting all day while he’s not home, or longer if he doesn’t make it home at all. Having a pet was grade school Aki’s dream, and it got wiped into nothing alongside his parents and brother and any chance of him having a normal life. (He offers food to every stray he meets on patrol.)

How do you think aki dies if his time is up with the curse devil? Do you think you guys go to bed one day and then he just doesnt wake up? Do you think the closer it comes he checks every day to find out what day it’s going to happen or do you think he doesnt want to know?

I don't want to think about this too hard because it makes my chest hurt. A peaceful, expected end doesn't feel very on-brand for the Curse Devil; I wonder if it would be closer to how Ghost took Himeno where there was just physically nothing left or if it would more closely resemble how the Curse Devil attacks targets in general?? This would be beyond devastating to me I don't like it in Any capacity!!!! I think he wouldn't want to know the exact date but would at least want to remain aware, like how in text he declines Future's offer to tell him how he dies but does ask Curse and Angel about his lifespan deductions broadly... He doesn't want to be so preoccupied with the countdown that he can't focus on what's important (loving his family, including you) but he does want to be conscious of making sure his affairs are in order so you and Denji and Power will be okay without him.

As revenge for pain this ask caused please also consider being Aki's partner as his time draws near. He's not dishonest with you, but he's a little evasive about specifics because he wants to enjoy your time together. He indulges everything you ask of him, even if knowing the reason you ask makes him ache. Near-constant cuddling with your ear pressed to his heartbeat and your fingers coiled around his wrist. (Feeling your pulse reassures me, Aki.) Can we take more photos together, Aki? (I'm terrified I won't remember your face.) Show me again how to make coffee the way you like it? (I want the taste to remind me of you.) Let's celebrate your birthday early this year, please? (We can celebrate it twice, if we make it that far. I just want to make you smile as many times as I can.)
