“it drives you crazy, getting old.”
“You sure you weren’t already crazy?” Momo teased.
She reached up, grabbing his keys from on top of a shelf.
“I found them. You set them here last night. Your memory’s getting kinda bad, huh?”

Though he has started to talk even less in the years since she met him, he still made the effort to visit on occasion, and this time he had brought something with him. "Ma'am." he began, holding tightly onto a bo, though not the one he usually carried around. This one appeared to be brand-new, still smelling of the wood it was carved from. "You had asked me to make one for your son a while back. So---" He paused, then held it forward, his hand shaking, so that she could inspect it if she wished.
“Wow.... It’s big.”
She leaned forward, reaching up and carefully hefting the bo with both hands but not getting up from the fluffy chair her husband had bought her to help with her many aches and pains.
“You’ll have to forgive me for not standing to greet you properly. The baby will be ready to come out any day now and standing has become difficult.”
She gestured to the nearby couch. He looked so old. Surely Torifu needed to sit too.
“I’d tell Chouji that you’re here so you could visit but he’s in a bit of a panic right now. The nursery isn’t finished yet and now he’s rushing about to get everything done. Once he calms down, I’ll have him put the bo in there. It’ll be nice for our son to view it until he’s big enough to start his training.”

once i was wearing a long sleeved shirt and thought there was a hair on my arm, so i reached up one of the sleeves to remove it and then a spider crawled out.
nO. That is awful.
Amg, one time I was sitting in my grandma’s chair and my arm itched so I looked over and there was A HUGE BROWN SPIDER ON MY ARM and I freakin’ swiped it off my arm and then ran across the living room after a short but loud scream and it was just like thank you spider for embarrassing and terrifying me

Food has a habit of ‘just appearing’ in Torifu’s fridge as he gets older and has a harder time moving around because Momo knows how proud he can be but doesn’t want him to skip a meal because he isn’t feeling well enough to shop. She also cooks some meals and freezes them for days when he’s very ill.
"You mock me. I know what you're doing. I know exactly what you're doing."
But Momo couldn’t hear him, in fact, no one could, not over her snoring. It seemed the cold she’d caught combined with some medicine from Torifu’s medicine cabinet had been greatly effective but caused a noise from her that, well, sounded a whole lot like she was imitating the ancient man when he fell asleep in his chair.
At least now he knew what he sounded like to the rest of the world when he slept in an improper position. And the small woman would be much easier to move off his couch than he would, if he felt like moving her.
"Is it mad to pray for better hallucinations?"
“Yeah, kinda.”
There was a deep frown on Momo’s face. She worried about him so very much.
“Let’s go see the doctor, okay? This isn’t normal.”
"Would you like to stay for dinner?"
“If you want.”
Momo had to wonder whether the invitation was Torifu’s proud way of asking for her help. She knew that he liked to put on a good front but he was getting far too old to be up and about all the time, cooking dinner every night.
“Do you want me to cook something? Oh! Or we can order takeout. There’s a new Korean place that delivers and Cho-kun says it’s super good.”
She knew that both Chouji and Chouza liked Korean barbeque so it wasn’t that far of a leap that Torifu might as well. This wasn’t barbeque of course cause that couldn’t be easily delivered but it was the same sort of flavors. Hopefully Torifu would like it enough to give himself a break and order in sometimes. Eating fairly healthy takeout like that every once in a while wouldn’t hurt him.
"What are you doing?"
“I heard you hadn’t been eating your vegetables.”
The girl had two big bowls of salad in her arms, one full of little nuts and veggies and dressing and ham, while the other was plain undressed vegetables with little sliced up strawberries.
“I brought some for your turtle friend too. I remembered how much he liked the lettuce I brought last time.”
Momo set the veggies and strawberries on the ground before offering Torifu the other bowl.
“You need to stay healthy, ya know. I’m not strong enough to drag you around if you feel weak.”
