akitla replied to your photo: What a great picture of Eugenie. She looks ready...
Who is she I think I love her
Oh gosh, you would LOVE Eugenie. She’s a secondary character from The Count of Monte Cristo, and her role in the novel is basically intimidating lesbian who is 110% done with the patriarchy. (Her fiance is terrified of her and it’s hilarious.)
Here are some Eugenie descriptions from the novel:
She was beautiful, but her beauty was of too marked and decided a character to please a fastidious taste; her hair was raven black, but its natural waves seemed somewhat rebellious; her eyes, of the same color as her hair, were surmounted by well-arched brows, whose great defect, however, consisted in an almost habitual frown, while her whole physiognomy wore that expression of firmness and decision so little in accordance with the gentler attributes of her sex—her nose was precisely what a sculptor would have chosen for a chiselled Juno.
and later:
Mademoiselle Danglars was still the same—cold, beautiful, and satirical. Not one of these glances, nor one sigh, was lost on her; they might have been said to fall on the shield of Minerva, which some philosophers assert protected sometimes the breast of Sappho.

Lol I can literally picture your rage I am so sorry. If it makes you feel any better my fam still thinks I am clueless about the cultural contexts surrounding immigration and probably wouldn't change their minds if I beat them over the head with my master's degree
LOOOL, you know who I’m talking about! I was talking with her on the phone today and mentioned an internship-turn-job opportunity that I’m pursuing and threw out a potential billable figure they threw out at me (if it went down that path) and I KNOW that is what triggered the “omg, I should have been an attorney” thought. SHE LITERALLY CALLED ME BACK TO BRAG ABOUT HER EMAIL SUCCESS. Some things never change...
Girl, I feel your struggle so much. OF COURSE YOU COULDN’T POSSIBLY KNOW MORE THAN THEY DO, YOU ARE DISAGREEING WITH THEM! Apparently, even though I’m basically done with law school, with a background in history, my whole family knows more about law, politics, and the history of the United States more than me. 🙄 This election brought out the worst, after nearly getting into a screaming match with my dad I’ve given up, if they start talking about any of that I immediately leave the room.
aksbsggsk thank you guys so much ;3;
akitla replied to your post: So. Yup. We’re going to kick out the problem...
Omg this sounds unpleasant :c Best of luck!
Thank you. It’s honestly what needs to be done at this point. She’s stolen money from us, taken advantage of us, shirked her responsibilities and refused to communicate about it, and both she and her boyfriend have disrespected us and our agreements multiple times. We’re done.

I love Eugenie so much

I do love her, confirmed.
We are all in love with Eugenie. It is a universal condition u_u
(I didn’t even post some of the best bits because I’m now making a nominal effort to cut down on spoilers. The bit about the shield around the breast of Sappho is always hilarious though - like Dumas basically just took a big red pen and wrote the word “LESBIAN!!” in the margins.)
