Hello there. Mercy main here. First of all, how are you? Are you having a good day? Yes? No?
Thats great/No worries. Today, I’d love to talk about something I’ve noticed recently.
Now, I like to think that I mostly stay neutral on matters. I try my best to do my job and not to swerve into lanes that aren’t mine. I don’t generally jump into voice when people are being ‘toxic’, I don’t generally not heal people for any one reason. The only rage and salt is that which only I will hear.
But please. For the love of everything. HELP YOUR TEAM.
I have been in several Quickplay matches in the last few days that I’ve gleaned a pattern from. Someone will either throw, or hide.(I understand and appreciate the non-comp feel of Quickplay! Its great that we can have fun. I want that. This is more for those of us that want to do comp in the future, or just don’t want one person spoiling the fun, kay?)
Honestly, very proud I’ve not seen many throwers. Considering the time I ran into it, that person had absolutely no reason to do so, but did, makes it noteworthy however. My example is: We had a Mei, on point. Which was fine, I thought. The strike team was killin’ it that day, and we totally had it! (Or so I thought). Suddenly, the points being attacked! Now, Mei was alone, but hadn’t died, so a couple of us raced back, and I, being the only healer, wanted to jump back for a sec to help out (Battle Mercy go~).
Mei was ‘Hello’-ing the enemy on point. And running about trying not to get hit. And repeating. We did end up losing the point soon after, but I hadn’t voted to personally blame Mei. Its never one person! But on the next point, the same issue arose. So I spoke out, in respawn, after Mei had let me get ganked in front of her by a Genji she was ‘Hello’-ing. “Hey. I’m on the point babo” was the response. So, I ignored Mei from that point on, outside of healing her when she was low/in a bad spot. The only time I saw her fire was in the last few seconds, and thats considering that I was having to run from Genji and Soldier while my team went back and forth from respawn due to the horrors before us. My healing was not enough (only healer, as I mentioned).
Bottom line: Please play nice. Don’t throw. It’s not comp, its not necessarily important to a lot of people, but. Its very possible others are trying to get better, and improve so that they CAN do comp. And feigning a point defense when in actuality you’ve opted to greet the demons as they rise from the abyss and converge upon thee, is rude.
Again, just once did this happen, but still something I needed to mention.
The real problem, as it were, is the many players I’ve seen hiding. Now, I bet the first thought is ‘But if you hide, then you can sit and wait for your team to push, and you’re good!’. Welp. Sure. If that were the thought process. But let me paint the scene:
Our team was on defense. It was Hanamura, and the first point had yet to be taken. I had Mercy, as is the usual. I don’t remember our team comp very well, but I do happen to remember the Reaper. Now, again, let me stress, I don’t play the game to boss. If you wanna play Reaper on Defense, alright then. Maybe you are pro Reaps, and got us. Its fine. (MY real issue is the amount of Attack Widows who either won’t listen to reason when the entire team has asked nicely, or flat out ignores pleas of defense from their teammates...you know who you are. IF you Widow on Attack, get good.) But what you should not do, is hide when your team is making a frantic attempt at guardign the point, and you are literally watching them fall like flies.
Reaper is an Offense character, specialing in moving in on the enemy when they dont expect it, blasting their faces off, and eating souls. (Not after the patch, I guess). He is NOT a ‘I guess my whole team got this 5 v 6, I can stand here and get some nachos bruh’.
Communication is key. I’ve run into many different scenarios like this, which are much vaguer in memory aside from the fact that I’ve had D.Va’s fly off and leave me stranded with the enemy when they were at half health and I had pocketed them. Or the countless Pharahs who believe I can fly like them.
What I’m trying to convey here, is that, contrary to popular belief, teamwork is important. Healers need Tanks or Attack characters to guard them. Defense characters often need scenarios or enviornments to best suit them. Team composition is so very important. I’ve gone from maining Mercy and Tracer/Sombra, to filling in because more often than not, NO ONE wants to be Healer. And thats alright. I don’t mind being Healer for you, if you will work with me. If my D.Va’s and Reins stay beside me, if my Pharahs watch the cliffs for me, then I’ll die a Support Main. But please.
Do not hide, when your team is all on point, you are not the leader, you are not our best player or secret weapon. You’re our comrade. We need you. Get in there! You may die, but chances are, I have my rez, and we’ll create an undead army for which to slaughter the infidels.
Don’t throw. Peoples choices are their own. IF you don’t agree, then agree to disagree. If you dont like someone, then don’t talk to them. Deciding that your feelings are more important than your teams when playing such a game as this, won’t get you or anyone else anywhere.
Play nice everyone. Please.
(PS. I’ve recently heard about Sombra pseudo-healing and will more than likely test out the Master-race of Hack-Healer. Get rekt.)
So like. Heres a...not-so neat sketch thing of another OC of mine, Mana, wearing Luciela’s Chilliarch jacket outfit from Elsword.
Did I mention I like Elsword...?
My AMAZING, perfect and talented twinsy EchoBade, did simply the best Artwork of my personal OC, Alcina.
