Akuman: A gender related to sleep, darkness, nighttime, tears, running mascara, the moon, dim stars, nightmare, and general negative emotions. It feels like a ‘personified’ version of emotional void, loneliness, and longing for something unknown that you somehow still know you’ll never have. It’s also related to the fear of going to sleep and never waking up, as well as the fear of dying in your sleep.
The name is from akumu (悪夢 or あくむ), the Japanese word for “nightmare”
