July 2017 - Recent clashes in Al-Hoceima, Morocco. Thousands of people have been protesting across the country, but mostly in the poorer Rif region, against the authoritarian government and the economic neglect of the region, ever since a fish seller was crushed to death in 2016 in a garbage truck while trying to retrieve fish confiscated by police. Video showed Mouhcine Fikri jumping into the back of the truck to rescue his swordfish, before being crushed to death by its compactor. Activists have accused police officers of ordering the garbage men to crush Fikri. [video]/[video]/[video]
